MotorStorm: Pacific Rift UK Review

Second albums are always the trickiest. The weight of expectation is a heavy cross to bear and pitfalls are all too easy to stumble into, whether it's going too experimental and alienating the existing fan base, or being too cautious and not pushing the envelope enough. And so the challenge falls onto the shoulders of Evolution Studios. After the success of the first MotorStorm - partly due to the game's pedigree and also because it was the only decent racer when PlayStation 3 launched – it was only going to get tougher to create a game that stayed faithful to the original yet brought something new to the mix. Pacific Rift, then, is the videogaming equivalent of Oasis's (What's The Story) Morning Glory? – it builds on the foundations laid by its predecessor, delivering an experience that's comfortably familiar yet pushes the series in a different – albeit only slightly – direction.
