Silent Hill Homecoming

After the enduring majesty of the first three Silent Hill games, it's now more than five years since Konami's survival-horror lynchpin stood shoulder to shoulder with the most vital, relevant brands in gaming. With the slight disappointment of The Room, followed by the curious and controversial decision to farm out the development of the underwhelmingOrigins to UK studio Climax, expectations for Homecoming have been dampened for some time. Again farmed out, this time to the US-based Double Helix, fans were expecting another frustrating compromise. And so it proves.

Re: Silent Hill Homecoming

Not really what I was expecting to hear but not surprised

I loved this series from the beginning and unfortunately I stopped playing it after the third game. From the sounds of it the game more dramatic than Resident Evil has simply become lame ....

Re: Silent Hill Homecoming

My only problem with this game is the Steam-only release. I don't buy downloads. If this was actually at a store, I'd buy it in a second. I have bought all previous versions, even The Room, but I WILL NOT pay for a download and not have a hard copy in my hand.

Sucks because I really like the Silent Hill series. I can only hope that someday it WILL be available to purchase in a store.

Re: Silent Hill Homecoming

Steam has an option to back up the files onto a DVD so i don't see the problem with downloaded games..

My only problem i have with steam related games can be a few pounds more than a Hard Copy of the game in question.

Yes, but don't forget when downloading legaly, games was about to start, every company was in favour of it with one major point, that the final price for the consumer would be much lower. No cost for printing CDs, manuals, boxes/cases etc. Oh wait, what was your point again?

I know all thats to be accounted for... I do prefer steam related games. And this is one of the first places i look at.But thats when steam started off.

But recently games hosted via steam is starting to get a little expensive.Im finding online stores like Play.com sell the Hard copy,DVD/Cover/Manual and postage packaging (Which is free if you dont mind waiting a day or two longer).A few pounds cheaper.

Surely this should be the opposite way round.I guess steam is taking a fair cut from the digital downloads.

Re: Silent Hill Homecoming

I don't know how much this is Steam's/Valve's fault. I suspect more the publishers of the games.
I do check Steam often, they have some great offers from time to time and I have bought many games from them. In terms of "rights" to the customer though, no one can beat matrixgames. Unfortunately they have a much smaller number of games for sale. Gamersgate is good too for a variety of reasons...
And everybody is better than d2drive or eastoredigital or whatever it is called.

Rayder, are you sure it is only a Steam game?

The review itself I think it is for the Xbox360 version.

Re: Silent Hill Homecoming

I can't see Konami limiting themselves to just Steam. I am sure it will come out for others.

RAyder, where did you get the info that it is only going to be released through Steam?

That doesn't mean it only comes to Steam.

I did not post it as confirmation...

As i said Play.com are the only online site that have this listed for the pc.

The most reputable online stores i have access to are:

Game
Gamestation
Amazon
Ebay

Not one of these websites host the Hard Copy of Silent Hill Homecoming.

Even Kelkoo does not show a pc version.

(I posted the steam news early this month Here )
