Microsoft: 28 Million Xbox 360s Sold, 17 Million On Xbox Live
The Xbox 360 game console has sold a total of 28 million units worldwide as of the end of 2008, according to a new official Microsoft statement.
In November, the company reported a global userbase of over 25 million units, passing the lifetime total for the original Xbox. Just yesterday, the company revealed that its European userbase stood at 8 million units. ____________ Source: Gamasutra |

I don't know but to me its one of the worst made pieces of crap ever. If a PC engineer went to his boss with the design of this machine internally he would get fired on the spot. the cooling is absolutely hideous with nothing more than passive airflow throughout most of the unit. Shockingly poorly made, im hoping the 720 or whatever they call it is better designed. |

Re: Microsoft: 28 Million Xbox 360s Sold, 17 Million On Xbox Live
My original Xbox 360 after 2 years of daily operation was working fine. The new one after about 4 months is working fine. I know there have been many returns/repairs but it doesn't mean that all or most of the people have had their consoles die on them. I do follow one simple rule though, after I finish playing any game I go to the dashboard and leave it there for at least 15min. Then shut it down.

Re: Microsoft: 28 Million Xbox 360s Sold, 17 Million On Xbox Live
I'm on my first one after about one year of use. I never had any issues so far. I don't know which generation I have but it's probably not the first and not the latest.
The 17 millions people on Xbox Live, are they counting silver + gold account or only gold accounts? So far, I've only used a gold account when it came for free with a game or when it was free for a month after creating an account. I'm satisfied with only have access to demos and not playing online. I play pc games online instead (those that are free to play online). It's so easy (for the lazy) to download demos on the Xbox 360 that I now download more demos on the Xbox 360 than on the pc. The download speed is fast even with a silver account, compared to most pc demos download sites where you are throttled and download slower. |

Re: Microsoft: 28 Million Xbox 360s Sold, 17 Million On Xbox Live
My launch model 360 has finally started to show signs of wear after over 3 years and I only now feel able to talk about it without
.(green tint to the picture which usually means it's on it's way out). On payday I shall be dashing to yon store type place to hunt out a jasper revision replacement. I couldn't live without my xbox and think 3 years from a piece of hardware that has seen daily use as a music, game and movie player for both me and the wife was a fair investment. |
