Saints Row 2 PC Ships, Steam Delay

The Windows edition of Saints Row 2 should be showing up in North American stores today, but a glitch has delayed the release of the open-world action sequel on the Steam platform. Word on the Saints Row Forum is: "I've received some word back and it appears that we have experienced some issues with the Steam client and both THQ and Valve are working on the issue and hope to have it resolved soon. This delay does not affect the retail version (in-store) of Saints Row 2 PC, but the game will not be available for digital download off of Steam today. Again, anyone who picks up a boxed copy today will be able to authenticate and play SR2 once installed."

Re: Saints Row 2 PC Ships, Steam Delay

I was looking forward to playing this for a while and with the GTAIV PC issues it's even more appealing. Although, IGN's review of Saints Row 2 PC isn't exactly reassuring:

Quote:
What does that translate to in terms of quality? A crazy good time. Or at least, what would have been a crazy good time if not for the game's poor coding on PC. For whatever reason the PC version absolutely chugs. Even on my Intel Core2Quad 2.4 GHz with 2GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX, and a Vista 32 operating system, the game ran between twenty and seven frames per second and had a host of other performance issues. In other words, it was nauseating and almost unplayable. The core gameplay is the same, but the general performance basically kills the experience.
Perhaps it just needs a better GPU than the 8800GTX to deliver smooth gameplay.

Re: Saints Row 2 PC Ships, Steam Delay

surely can't be that bad. It's beginning to piss me off a bit how so many pc games are released so buggy. I will wait a bit and see how this is reviewed etc before deciding if it's worth me buying it. Prolly not worth it, as I've had the xbox version of this before. unless of course it's like GTA4, where the game looks better on the PC then i'll have both versions >.<

Re: Saints Row 2 PC Ships, Steam Delay

I just finished the storyline of the game in Xbox 360. Very good game and enjoyed the story a lot. There were frame rate issues even on this one. I can see how it can have problems under PC and I am interested to see how the majority of systems handle the game.
