Sony Faces Heat From Game Publishers to Cut PS3 Price

Sony Corp. is under pressure from video-game publishers to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 console or risk seeing more development funds shift to Nintendo Co.’s Wii.

the cost of the console is what will end up determining the console wars. Nintendo an Microsoft have done very well in that department.

IMO, Sony should make a BR-less version of the ps3 in order to catch up and also drop the price of their console.

That would be a great idea. I have yet to purchase a Ps3 even though many of the games are of great interest. I havent for the sole reason that I think its too expensive still. I already have a BR player, why would I want another one?

there are three games and one other reason that highly interest me for me getting a ps3: Resistance, Resistance 2, and that new game that was just released...i forget the name but it was also futuristic like. lol. the other reason, is its BR player capabilities.

i don't think sony can release a non-BR PS3, as iirc the games are actually on BR discs...
