Nintendo has an inconsistent reputation when it comes to milking their franchises -- while Mario and Link have graced countless game covers, it's been 15 years since the release of
Super Punch-Out!! With the exception of
a cameo in
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Little Mac has been "retired" for almost 22 years. That's a long time for a video game character to be out of the spotlight, but the crazy cast of
Punch-Out!! are still some of the most memorable in gaming history. As a fan of the franchise from when Mike Tyson still graced the cover, I was excited when Nintendo announced that a graphically updated
Punch-Out!! would be coming to the Wii. And that excitement only increased further when I got the chance to step back in the ring with Little Mac and try out the Wii re-imagining myself.
