The last time i completed COD: W@W the zombie mode was accessible once the full campaign was completed. This was playable for me..
I'm the same as you Bluemak,Online games hardly interest me.. I have played it twice,The difficulty increases the further you try to survive. |

Yes, but it will be very hard playing alone
![]() -50% for a recent big title is a great deal, but even with half price you can find cheaper deals elsewhere.

Where?
For single player ONLY, and only about the Zombie part, which game do you recommend? L4D, CoDWaW (with the mappack), Killing Floor, or something else? (PC)

![]() I have all the above games. I don't believe that they worth for their single player zombie-parts. (that's for my mood) It's hard to tell which one is the best. Left 4 dead has nice plot, but bots suck a lot (believe me). CoD:WaW has some nice zombie survival defending maps, but can easily get bored of the same things. Killing Floor is very nice and for solo, but you may feel too lonely in the middle of chaotic battles.(no bots available) One other option is a cool mod for Unreal Tournament 3 called: The Haunted. It's a great mod for UT3, but it feels a bit unfinished. So it depends on the style of the gameplay you want. Camp defense shooting everything that moves or a hard run for survival? But if i had to choose one for me i would go for Killing Floor as it seems to offer a bit more hours of gameplay (although it's not the best) and it's cheap ![]() On the other hand with CoD:WaW you have the ww2 campaign which is very interesting !

Re: Steams Weekend Deal - Call of Duty: World at War 50% off
I have like 10 WW2 fps games and have only finished one of them (Medal of Honor Airborne assault). don't get me wrong, I like them a lot, but they are all so similar! (doh!)
I just watched a clip from Killing Floor and I have mixed feelings about it. There was one zombie holding a chainsaw or something and a guy emptied a couple of clips from an assault rifle on its head before it died. Just doesn't feel, right, but at least most of the zombies didn't run like they were on crack like they do in L4D, i don't like these Kenteris zombies. ![]() As to what I like, have you ever played Zombi? 1987ish game. Slow, more like adventure/rpg, limited amount of ammo but also not 5.6mil zombies on your ass.

Have you heard of or taken a look at Painkiller? I tried the demo a few years back.
And thanks for the heads up Mig. I look every weekend now to see what's on sale. Picked up Tomb Raider Anniversary a couple weeks back for $5.00 as an example...

Re: Steams Weekend Deal - Call of Duty: World at War 50% off
Most WW2 games look the same and that gets you bored playing them. (I have also finished MoH and it's expansions, great game for those days).
About KF those zombies that you have seen are the mini bosses. They kick ass. With headshot you do extra dmg, not a sure kill (only the weak die with one headshot). Also there are invisible zombies, even jumping ones (i hate both :P). KF feels a bit of rpg because of perks and trader (where you buy ammo, weapons and armor). L4D has a bit easier zombies (even Tank is easy using a molotov) and that's because of bad AI. But with L4D you follow a plot, it's not that camp and killing waves of zombies. If you have UT3 check the mod that i told you before, it's free ![]() I got my first PC in 2000 so i haven't played Zombi :P (i was playing Fifa 2000 :P).

Don't even think about L4D if you don't plan to play it online , very short SP story and dump AI somehow .

The rpg elements of KF, are they also for the offline part of the game or only online? I watched a couple of clips from the zombie mode available in CoDWaW and I was pleasantly surprised with the speed of the zombies (not fasT) and the whole setting. It felt very good but I was able to "see" problems with it getting boring after a while. Decisions, decisions! Zombi was great, if you have a Home Computer or an emulator for one, try it (Atari ST version is the best for this game IMO). When I first played it in the 80s it was a bit scary.

Got CoDWaW. With my slow connection I will have it some time around tomorrow. Don't know when I will be able to play it.
I considered Killing Floor, but it seems to have many bugs (as it is the custom nowdays for new games), at least according to forum posts.

That UT3 mod sounds interesting - might give that a go when I have a spare... Thanks, and not really surprising that a mod exists for that - the UT series has such a long history of participation by users in designing mods.

I am in the second soviet mission. The game advances very quickly. I hope I won't finish it in 2 or so more missions..
Of course I have to finish it if I want to play the zombie mode offline. The game so far is good. I can't figure out why there is so much hatred for Treyarch. This and Call of Duty 2, are good games.

Why do you say that? I am a couple of hours in the game (regular difficulty setting, which isn't that difficult...) and I am having a blast. Oh and it is way more violent than I was expecting it to be. This is one seriously violent and not for kids type of game.

Re: Steams Weekend Deal - Call of Duty: World at War 50% off
I find the weapons in the game, fun. Even the machine guns that I usualy find worthless in FPSs. My favourite weapons remain the rifles, but the double barrel shotgun is a very good weapon for close encounters too.
I am 3/4 of the game in, perhaps a bit more. I spotted some times a very dumb AI, but I am not sure if it is due to the difficulty setting or not. Still, nothing terrible and it doesn't detract from the game. There is a mission where you are on a plane and you attack ships and defend against planes. The game looks absolutely beautiful and it makes me more sad that the once great flight sim category of games has now been reduced to a mission in a FPS and slightly more advanced versions of Afterburner. If you are thinking on buying this game, do it. It is a very good FPS and even the neverending influx of enemy troops till you move to a certain spot, is not that obvious as in the previous games in the series. Oh, did I mentioned the violence?

Re: Steams Weekend Deal - Call of Duty: World at War 50% off
I just thought of a really good idea for a WAR game. What if when the game started up the only selection was "Start Game" and if and when one decided to press the escape key during play the player takes a cyanide tablet and the game ends? Think about it.

Re: Steams Weekend Deal - Call of Duty: World at War 50% off
I just finished the game.
If I had paid full price I would be upset because of the short single player campaign. For the money though, it felt good enough. The game is very good, very enjoyable and I see myself playing through it again. I don't know what some people have against this game (quality wise), but I can't find anything wrong with it, apart from whatever one could find wrong with all CoD games (spawning of enemies). I also tried a map (out of the two I believe) of Nazi Zombies, single player. First time I survived till round 5, second, round 7. I am still not sure what to think of it. I will have to play some more.
