Janco Partners' Mike Hickey is estimating sales of 11.1 million units for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, with a $338 million first day, suggesting it will end up "the largest video game release" of the year.

Pretty sad if true. I haven't seen any screens of the game but I doubt it'll be much different from World at War or CoD 4. Not sure why gamers go freakin' crazy for it.

It's all about the multiplayer. Sure, the single player campaign in Modern Warfare was fun, but it was short and forgettable. The focus on multiplayer was what made it sell so well. If Modern Warfare 2 has good multiplayer which improves upon the original, it will sell well. If not, then it will just do OK.

Not if the main draw is the multiplayer...pirates versions can't play on legit servers. That said, ya it'll probably be the most pirated game of the year behind Sims 3.
