I'm going to buy a PS3 this week, but which should I get?

New PS3 Slim ($300), A remote ($30) and an HDMI cable ($20 bucks), MGS4 ($30?)

Or

Ps3 60gb used (apparently mint condition with 1 remote, 1 controller, 1 HDMI cable, MGS4, Rainbow six vegas 2, some other crap game I wont play and a BluRay documentary I was considering buying. All for $300.

I do have 2 or 3 PS2 games that I havent really played but otherwise I don't care for the backwards compatibility, do I really need 60 extra gigs of space? Is the slim that much cooler and quieter than the 60 gig?

I don't know about Slim advantages over the previous one , but I would go with the new thing even if it was more expensive , at least you have a guarantee and you sure no one used it before you.

Ya, that's definitely true, though I figured PS3's are pretty reliable that a used one might be ok. That and there's not enough games for most people to have worn it out like they do on their 360's

I'd be saving over $100 getting used but I dunno...I plan to use it primarily for BluRays and I want it to be reliable.

LoL , Depends on who you wull buy from and the time since he purchased it new, if he is a enthusiastic gamer who spends most of his time on it or used it too much in watching movies definitely don't buy it and if he were casual gamer that play some dump games and use it lightly you may think of it. But for me if I am paying 300 bucks to buy used stuff and I can get new for 100$ more, I think it deserves the extra bucks

I would get the Slim. It uses much less power and is less noisy.

Now the PS3 is a pretty stable console, but some of the 60gig models did have some problems with connections loosing contact, similar to the problem on 360, though more rare.

If you want to get a PS3, I would go for the newer version. Slimmer, more efficient, larger hard drive and new.

60gig PS3's are pretty old so I figure even with light usage it's gotta have some aging...I will probably decide tomorrow, whether I hear from the seller or not I'm getting a PS3; either way I'll be happy to finally have a BluRay player and get to play MGS4! You guys are right though it's wiser to go with a new one and most likely that's what I'll do

Bought a new PS3 Slim yesterday and a couple of games (Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted). Kinda funny that MGS4 was the same price used as brand new at EB...bought them both used for the 10% discount on top of the price.

I rented a few BluRay movies to test it out and am very impressed not just with the quality of HD movies but in the PS3 itself. The menus are beautiful and appear to have every feature I could need. Love the built in Wi-Fi!
