Mass Effect 2 multi-core workaround released
A workaround for Mass Effect 2 players that fixes extremely long load times stemming from dual core issues has been released and is available now for download.
The majority of the loading issues take place between decks of the Normandy; some have figured out that the problems have to do with the game's processor affinity. When set to one core and then back to two cores the issues clear up, but this either forces players to address the situation manually every time they play, or have impeded performance elsewhere in the title. _____________ source : Examiner |

I don't know about this , but with Grid , the game was loading forever when I upgraded my rig , because it treated i7 as a 8 core processor (due to hyperthreading) and that caused the game to stop responding , the problem was solved by editing one of the game config files .

Re: Mass Effect 2 multi-core workaround released
I occasionally experienced this. When it got to its worst a quick restart of the game solved it. Wouldn't be surprised if some leftover Xbox code is the culprit.

it seems the problem arise only in dual core computers as the article says.
