A federal judge is allowing a negligence lawsuit to proceed against the publisher of the online virtual-world game Lineage II, amid allegations that a Hawaii man became so addicted he is “unable to function independently in usual daily activities such as getting up, getting dressed, bathing or communicating with family and friends.”

Craig Smallwood, the plaintiff, claims NCsoft of South Korea should pay unspecified monetary damages because of the addictive nature of the game. Smallwood claims to have played Lineage II for 20,000 hours between 2004 and 2009. Among other things, he alleges he would not have begun playing if he was aware “that he would become addicted to the game.”

Let's say, hypothetically, that you are addicted to porn. That you masturbate constantly... even have your own customized chair for this purpose, have a BDSM/Latex/Hentai/ fetish.... own an inflatable Emmanuelle Chirqui doll (the one with the bullet vibe and sucking action in every orifice) that you paid good money for. Who would I.. er.. I mean who would someone be able to sue for this addiction? I mean, God forbid that I, er.. um.. that someone would have to take responsibility for that addiction. I've played it a little on a private server.. seems fun, just like WoW, just better looking. (you could look under the girls skirts)
but when you think about it, it is just the same repetitive grind all over again. I guess you need friends to play it with you for it to become fun...


I've tried several MMOrpg's now.. WoW, Warhammer online, Aion, Lineage II. after the first buzz wears off, it just isn't really that fun to play.
I'd much rather have a good SP game with a nice story etc. like ME or Dragon Age to keep me entertained.

AH well.. maybe I'm just too old for that crap and grew out of their market agegroup.. meh..

considering all the various games i've played ... the MMO's.... and how i've been suckered in by friends to "just give a whirl" and retried them... i end up always going back to lineage II..

Not only because the graphics are overall WAY WAY WAY better..

but because that game is actually pretty damn hard.... (course i only play on retail servers... private servers make the game a total joke)

It's a game that you cannot AT ALL play by yourself without having a bunch of accounts..

People have been playing for 6 years and still aren't max level...

Epic raids are actually pretty damn EPIC..... unlike WoW or anything other game..... both the attempt to actually make it to one and the PVP for it..

Lineage II is the only game i'm aware of that the moment you step outside of time, your fair game to get your ass dropped fast with or without wars.... with or without reason, and you can do the same.... go red all you like too lol.

Aside from a few select few instances that can be done without worry of being slaughtered out of the blue.... theres nowhere else that is safe.
