LittleBigPlanet (PS3) Review @ GH

Read The Review Here

LittleBigPlanet has been the subject of much hype over the last year and rightly so, as the ambitious, almost revolutionary ideas of developer Media Molecule should propel this game into platform redefining territory.

Re: LittleBigPlanet (PS3) Review @ GH

Well that was less of a review and more an exercise in fawning, not unlike nearly every other review of LBP though.

I remember the last game that got hyped as the GOTF, GTA IV, and we all know how that panned out. LBP looks to be a great 2d platformer, with the kicker that it is a game cum Web 2.0 app, social networking via gaming, something that Sony appear to be pushing (That said where is Home?)

The creation aspect of LBP will mean that it will be playable for years to come, but the restrictions Sony have applied (Regional restrictions, lack of picture importing etc) is highly disapointing, that said hopefully Sony will see sense and allow globalisation to take hold.

LBP will be huge, no doubt, but I forsee a backlash once the dust settles. "Genre redfining?" "instant classic" "best game ever"? I've heard this before....

You should review yourself, you always seem to have very strong opinions on almost everything.

Re: LittleBigPlanet (PS3) Review @ GH

I'm pretty sure we DO have a real classic here and why? Well because of the uniqueness of the game and .. well it seems fun I haven't tried it and stayed away from the beta, I dont like beta versions of games, I know I'm going to buy.

Looking forward to this being released on 31 oct.

Btw. GTA 4 in my opinion is one of the best games ever and yeah it might not be some new and unique, but it delivered over 100 hours of fun gameplay, which is a rare thing in games.

I can sum up a review on myself in one simple word: Bastard

Seriously though, this is a discussion forum and I like to impart my opinion, would you rather if I wasn't here (again)?

As I stated in my opening shot, this review isn't any more stark raving bonkers as more "proper" sites like IGN, 1up etc, when a highly hyped game is reviewed they seem to be less of a straight edged analysis than vague descriptions laden with hyperbole.

A review should tell me HOW certain game mechanics are so good, not just telling me that they are, it seems that the higher rating a game receives, the less those features are discussed and the more they are waxed lyrical.

Anywho, I have a massive gaming block to be buying/renting in the next few weeks (Saints Row 2, Fable 2, Dead Space, Fallout 3, Silent Hill 5 and Midnight Club LA, just in the next 3 weeks), AND I have WAR to be playing so I will have to miss LBP until more clever people make enough content to fill the surface area of the sun.

Yes, I really am a bastard.

Heh no offence taken, maybe my reading skills need work (Italics always make me jumpy :P)

Anyway, I miss chatting with you on MSN, I take it you have changed your addy cause you're never showing as online using your old contact details

Back on topic: Aside from my cynical comments, I do think that LBP is a breath of fresh air in gaming and can do a lot to show that startup companies CAN compete at the highest level (UK Dev defence force mode activated), I hope that the 3 console makers take note and start looking for new ideas and stop with their love affair with the sequel.

Btw. the allready shipped versions of LBP with the islamic music are not been "hidden away" for when a patch is ready, they have recalled them all. Hopefully they are able to ship them fast, so it's ready on the shelf here in EU at 31 oct.
