Mirrors Edge (PC) Review @ GH

Read The Review Here
_________________________

We reviewed Mirrors Edge last year on the high definition consoles and today we are following up with the new PC version which features support for Nvidia PhysX. For those who missed it first time around developer DICE have attempted to recreate a high octane game built around the concept of a futuristic parkour environment. You climb, jump and scale obstacles, all while trying to avoid being shot by bloodthirsty armed troops.

Re: Mirrors Edge (PC) Review @ GH

I played the Xbox 360 version. On pc, is it easier to aim and shoot the bad guys with a mouse and keyboard? I struggled a lot with the Xbox 360 controller every time there was a firefight.

On the Xbox 360, when you climbed a pipe, the view was automatically moved straight in front so you were looking at the wall the whole time while climbing, instead of looking up to figure out where you want to go next while climbing. If you tried to move the camera while climbing, it was preventing you from doing it by moving the camera position back to straight ahead. Is that changed on the pc version? Can you look up, left and right while climbing when playing with a mouse and keyboard?

Re: Mirrors Edge (PC) Review @ GH

John has told me that the control method on the PC is much superior and yes that firefights and fine movement works a lot better than the console controllers.

I haven't played it myself so unfortunately I can't add my own findings to this. Here is hoping they release a demo on the PC to give people a shot at checking out the difference before a purchase.

Re: Mirrors Edge (PC) Review @ GH

There was some news some time ago about someone getting physx to work on ATI cards. Is there any development about that? I just upgraded my video card and went with an ATI card.

Yes its easier to aim and you can look around anywhere you want. I think its one of the best games i have played in the past few years and, while the controls can be difficult at first, once u get used to them everything runs smoothly. Im guessing that who ever did the review had a hard time adjusting to the first person view in a game that features acrobatic gameplay. Whats surprising is that the game looks awesome and yet the recommended GPU is x1300 O_o. Runs very good on x1950 1440x900 everything maxed out and that includes AA.

I was surprised to see it got an 86 tho i really think this game is as close to perfection as any has ever been i would have rated it 100/100 because i can honestly say that for once in my life i cant find anything wrong in a game! everything is done perfectly. But thats just me anyway

Re: Mirrors Edge (PC) Review @ GH

i ended up buying this game and I don't regret it. The trail and error gameplay really isn't so bad. The game is well polished and runs perfectly.
