Good idea for an article and good article.

When Cannon Fodder came out it was a great fun game. I first played it on an ST. It was very violent and indeed battle after battle as the graves begun to accumulate, it felt strange.
Explosive barrels were fun, grenades and even the odd vehicle.

One little thing I don't agree with is

it was this game that saw them take strategy, puzzle solving and real time action and blend it into something that had never really been seen before.
. The game Airborne Ranger by Microprose managed to do all that, although in a more difficult to digest package, about 4-5 years before Cannon Fodder. Or I guess you could go even further back to Carrier Command. Still, Cannon Fodder was definitely more upbeat about it in terms of looks and sounds.
