Command & Conquer 4 (PC) @ GH

Command & Conquer 4 Review
_________________________

The Command and Conquer series is rightly revered by real-time strategy buffs as one of the most important in the entire genre. For fifteen years different generations have built bases, amassed units and then gone and marched on to victory against a variety of opponents, all done using the same tried and tested interface that has been replicated countless times. However, time doesnt wait for anyone and anything and even the third imagining of C&C garnered praise for its retro charm but little in the way of innovation.

Re: Command & Conquer 4 (PC) @ GH

Interesting game. Sounds like a strange marriage between RTS and FPS with most of the stuff new to the game having little similarity to actual warfare, but that doesn't mean that it's not fun or without any depth (though it was summarized as "not the most mentally taxing RTS").

One thing that really seems dubious is forcing the player to sit through the single player campaign. In my opinion, the right way to achieve such an effect is by making well thought out maps and challenging AI that will make single player a fun and useful experience and the would be RTS wizards who skipped it would get slaughtered because they didn't learn what it had to tech them. Forcing the player to sit through hour upon hour of single player of a not very mentally challenging RTS just so that they don't get handicapped in their unit selection when they go on line, on the other hand, doesn't seem like something I'd enjoy.

Single player has never been that exciting/challenging for the C&C series. When I buy the game the only thing I will be thinking about is Skirmish and Multiplayer.

I think this title was lackluster, but Kane as always makes my day.

Although I liked the muliplayer aspect of this game but I wouldn't give it more than 7/10 , there are many bugs and glitches , more importantly unbalance . Levels are annoying system and shouldn't be implies into RTS game. The score would also goes down further if you aren't into multiplayer.

I've heard that this is rather lacking.

And yes, I played the first C&Cs, can't believe it was so long ago. We were only wondering the other day whether they'd run on our Windows 7 pcs and were reminiscing about Total Annihilation too

Re: Command & Conquer 4 (PC) @ GH

I run C&C first decade perfectly on windows 7, even with a 'hack' that increases resolution ingame
Red Alert has more troubles, colors are all effed up..
