What a difference a beard makes... Seriously. The promotional material for Splinter Cell: Conviction saw pictures of a bedraggled Sam Fisher plastered everywhere just to let us know that things had changed. Its the classic movie convention - clean cut equals a by the book good guy, stubble equals either a bad guy or a good guy with a tendency to make up the rules as he goes along but the full beard is the uniform of a broken man.

not been the biggest fan of the Splinter Cell series, but it looks ok

That review is a little too vague for a PC review, it could just as easily have been an Xbox review. How does it compare visually to the console version and more importantly how does it perform? Are there lots of graphical options to configure? The previous Splinter Cell game had a rough PC release which took at least another gpu generation before it could perform smoothly so this relevant to Conviction.

I rented SC: Conviction for Xbox but I wasn't really impressed with the graphics so I decided to hold out for the PC version. While I'm surprised to see a PC review on GH so soon I'm disappointed none of my questions were answered.

I played through the whole PC game after having tried the 360 version and the graphics are obviously much much much MUCH better on PC. Though I did use the 360 gamepad and found it to be pleasant change from the mouse. Great game I'd definitely recommend it to those who are weary of SC games after Double Agent.
