Singularity (X360) Review

In a time when the first person shooter genre seems weighted down in reality, or some close approximation of it at least, it does beg the question what the frag-hungry gamer does for some actual R&R these days. If not crawling on their bellies through a network of Vietnam like tunnels, or having to keep one eye on ammunition supplies, or even having to be wary of their own commanding officers, there is always something heavy trundling over that reality based horizon that can make the whole thing sometimes too intense, if not out and out stressful. What are we supposed to do for fun these days if every game puts players through an emotional boot camp?

how can a silver awarded game, not even be average ?!

Not sure I understand your question?

The game was awarded silver because its overall rating was 85% (85%+ = Silver, 93%+ = Gold.)

The overall score is not an average of the gameplay, graphics, sound and value scores. (Sometimes a game is more or less than the sum of its parts).

don't know if there is something i havent' understood correctly, but overall (not an average). isn't that meant like the game is not even average ? bad, average, good.
it got silver, but isn't even average ?
i also think its weird, that it's a scale from 1/100, but if its good, it has to be over 80. its rare i see "50" or "30" and so on.. 1/10 would be better..

I am surprised by some people just signing up to bash a review. Not that I have something against you but it would have been more helpful if you shared your experience with the game and show how it deserves 1/10.

"not an average" means that the overall score is not an average of the other 4 aspects.

For example 85 is not an average of (87+79+84+82) /4.

For the overall score we take everything into account and award the entire game a score out of 100.

Games being rated out of 100 is a traditional thing where we are based. I can remember reading magazines 15 or so years ago where the scores were out of 100 and we continued that trend here. Our hardware reviews use 1-10 but games should (and probably always will) be 1-100 in my opinion.

As for the actual scores themselves, games get what they deserve, if thats 10 fine... if its 50 fine... we score them at a level we feel they deserve.
