KX/Audigy 4 Line Input Test

Hi Guys,

I'm a bit new on KX.
I've did some testing on the line inputs of my Audigy 4 non-pro.
I've tested Creative drivers/Youpax latest/KX

I recorded the same test signal throug different drivers (using line in)
The difference in sound (noise level) is extreme !

Creative Drivers have high levels of system noise (ac noise/lo hum + heavy hi noise)
Youpax Drivers have a bit better lijn input. I noticed the ac noise/lo hum was gone,
and the "hi noise" was a bit less.

Creative and Youpax drivers seem to heavily filter the sound.
Actually, it was hurting my ears. (creative drivers the most). Somehow the drivers make the audio sound "fat"/"thick" <> not natural at all.
(Ofcourse I DID turn off all FX and stuff)

Then I tested KX drivers (latest beta). First off, they seem to produce significant less noise level on the line input (how can this be ??). Second, it sounds much more natural.
And Third I love the peak meter wich tells me if the input is clipping. Very nice.

It's a pitty that I am losing 24 bit recording when switching to KX drivers, but I guess 24 bit recording with extreme high noise levels is useless, isn't it ?

Any advice on better input control is highly apppreciated.

The Best

I thought that kX doesn't work with ASIO 24 bit but does work with MME 24 bit??!!..?

Hello Doug,

Thanx for replying

With MME you mean Asio Multimedia drivers ? In that case should I set my project (cubase) to 24/48 ?

The ASIO MM does give big latency ? Doesn't it ?

MME and ASIO are different driver models. MME was introduced by 0.000001soft for common multimedia needs, while ASIO was invented by Steinberg for special purposes.
