Mic doesn't work

I'm using soundblaster live 5.1
Not a single thing is muted and nothing comes through my mic. I've tried 2 different mics, and neither of them worked. I plugged the mics into my guitar amplifier to make sure they actually worked and they both worked fine. Any suggestions? thanks.

Did you choose the MIC as the AC97 source, on the AC97 page of kxmixer?
