Audigy 2 LiveDrive to Digital Query
Hey guys, I have a query or 2 or 3...:-)
I have just bought an E-MU 1212M and am connecting the Audigy 2 Digital Out into the 1212M Digital In with Optical so I can use the Mic/Line input on the LiveDrive as a Guitar/Mic preamp. I will get the extra addon for the 1212 when finances permit... My question is, on the Audigy 2, does the signal go directly from the LiveDrive to the digital outputs, or does it flow through the DSP chip? If kX allows it, do Creatives drivers allow it as well? If it doesn't go direct, what is the best setup to get the signal as direct as possible to the digital outputs? Preferably 24/96. What will happen to the signal along the way? Any rate/bit conversions etc And does setting the SPDIF I/O to 48 or 96 make any difference? Thanks in advance. Phil Last edited by BODYPRINT; Mar 12, 2006 at 06:13 AM. The A2 - AFAIK - bypasses the DSP when using WAVE HQ device (NOT ASIO) for playback. Which can be 24/96.
But if you bypass the DSP - you loose 99% of KX Power - so, KX wont function very well as a guitar preamp - UNLESS - you get low enough latency to use the WDM (Wave HQ) device with a software based DSP Guitar Processor like Guitar Rig. Thus - it *may* be technically possible, I have to beleive the latency will be too much. |

in the main kX window under the p16v menu, select the i2s input that represents the input you're using (not sure which is which, you may have to test)
also open the 24/96 router and disable the spdif outputs from the 10k2 (click the green circle and make it red) that should work for what you need

@DJStick:
Hes looking to use the A2 as a guitar effects processor - but bypass DSP for 24/96 - so KX DSP wont 'effect' a guitar at this point. So, thats not what I beleive to be his solution. |

i just saw using the preamp on the live drive as a guitar/mic preamp, nothing about fx processing, so my method should work

Thanks heaps DJ, that seens to make sense. I never quite grasped the p16v setup.
I'll try it properly during the week. |
