spdif out broken?

Hi,
another day, another problem
Today I tried to ged rid of cable salad from Live Drive. According to Manual there is another optical out direct at the soundcard (Analog/Digital Out jack). Coaxial and Optical Out at Live Drive works properly (both use Epilog Out02/03) , but this SPDIF at Soundcard won't work. There should be at least a red light at the connection, but nothing...
Don't blame be if it's a coaxial out
(Soundblaster Live 5.1 Platinum)

uff, really?
I thougt it's a optical because at the retailpackage there was a strange optical cable which only fits in a 3,5mm connection (german: Klinken Anschluss). Donīt know what to do with, so I thought it's a special cable for this spdif at soundcard. lol

Im thinking - they were confusing the special 4 pole connector needed to access all 3 SPDIF's in that 1 jack - not sure if thats the case - but its what I suspect. Im not sure I have heard of a shared coax/optical in 1 jack - if so - why not use it on the live drive too??

System Specs

there is no optical output on the card itself

you need a converter

there are $20 protol converters about from optical to coax etc.
if you want everything to everything then check these out, i had to get one for work so we could get clean sound out of a new imac, it had optical out so it wasnt a complete loss.
They are about $160US
