Direct Sound Problem (i suppose)

Here i am again... and for the first time this is more or less a gaming problem
Ok, it all starts with Battlefield1942, turning on hardware acceleration (in BF menu) is the strangest sound i ever heard, it seems all to be same volume but with good quality, but just as long as you are moving... if you aren't - you hear nothing.
So i turned off hardware acceleration for battlefield and have to use the crappy software mode - but i can live with that.
The bad thing is when i play Elder Scrolls Oblivion (i love it ^^) the sound is f*cked up totally, if i use full hardware acceleration i hear let's say 2 out of 10 sounds in the game (footsteps, people talking etc...) if i turn hardware acceleration down with the slider in dxdiag the sound gets crippled and noisy, so there is no best choice between it, it's both crap.
I tried to work around by increasing the buffer sizes (just set everyting xept tram to the upper limits) - the problem remains but in full hardware acceleration mode (no crappy sounds - but strange selection what the card will play) i think its getting better O.o

So what to do now?
crappy sound is inacceptable so software mode doesn't do
just hearing some of the sounds is inacceptable as well
and increasing the buffer even more doesn't work because there are no higher settings ^^ (it could be an illusion, but i think it really helped... at least a bit -.-)

thanks in advance =)

Maybe you are sharing an IRQ between soundcard and graphics card. Or try lowering your graphics card PCI latency to something reasonable like 64 or 96, whatever your system is using by default. Google for "PCI Latency Tool".

i dont think this is an irq problem...
i had a look with pci latency tool, all devices are set to 32 latency, and there are no shared irqs of graphics card and sound card

*edit*
ok i just had a look at the bug reports of oblivion, it seems to be a bug in the game, sry for that
(but the battlefield problem remains.... google didn't tell me anything about this being a bug)

*edit again*
It seems to depend on buffer size... after maximizing the buffer sizes in kx menu it got better, but the longer the dialogues are the higher the propability of no sound, so is there a way to get buffer sizes beyond those limitations? (some kind of hack to use ram or something...) because this makes oblivion really unplayable
