Install does not work (??)

Running XP Home SP2

I have uninstalled the drivers for my Audigy Value SB0570. I also uninstalled all programmes for it. It was shown on the list of compatible cards on the KX site.

I then tried installing the KX drivers. The correct program files/folder was created, and all files are there. But when I try to run KXmixer.exe I get the message that KXSkin.kxs does not exist, please try reinstalling. I have done that several times without success.

Two questions, really.

How do I know whether the driver install went ahead?

Why is this failed kxskin.kxs message popping up?

Thanks for any help.

your card is listed on the knowledge base article under "Unsupported Cards"

I'm sorry but the card you purchased does not have the 10k2 (Audigy) chip and will not work with kX

Drat! I did not see that! I scriolled down through the various headings and did not read them. Sorry.

This card really is an orphan! Rotten latency; no upddates of drivers. What a waste of money! I have SBLive Values abnd they had nothing like this trouble. I will simply go back to them.

It came in an official Creative box. It was not OEM. Sometimes Furtive really gets up my nose.

Anyway. Thanks. Not shooting the messenger.

I've seen this card instores in a CL box also - one of the models is OEM (SE i think) while the other is Retail

both apparently have the same model number

but yes CL do some pretty dirty tricks sometimes

Hence the name "Furtive" that I often give them! <G>

Thank you.

I reckon the drivers are the bee's knees. I used them to run stuff before, and it let me do things like link up two BSLives SPDIF out-> in etc and record digital output from one card to the other.

Obviously I need to check out my next card buy, or as I say, simply go back to the BSLives.
