Cubase nightmare...Help!!

I have been trying to set up my souncard using the kx drivers...

I HAVE READ ALL OF THE KX CUBASE SET UP TUTORIAL...

I spent all night last night trying to configure my setup. I have the sample-rate set to 48k and I have selected the kx asio drivers from the cubase dropdown menu, but when I try to record into cubase I only get a mono (right) input signal. I have tried rerouting the signal in the dsp but to no avail. The strange thing is that when I open soundforge I get a stereo input signal!!

The sound card is sb live5.1 digital SB0220

ps are there any drivers planned for the audigy LS model?

Which version of Cubase?
On Cubase, have you set I/O buses as stereo (VST Connections)?

cubase sx 2.2
yes the connections are set as stereo...Also if I use cubase's ASIO directx full duplex drivers it records in stereo

The motherboard is a Gigabyte ga-81k1100 with ht technology

Look for:
The ASIO "mapping issue"

OK, I concede, I only briefly looked at the aforementioned "mapping issue" section.
I now have 5kx in 04 and 6kx in 05 routed to stereo bus inputs L and R respectively in cubase...(see attachment)
is this right?

Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!

What is right depends on what works for you.
If you are only connected to ASIO (4/5), and you can see both channles in Cubase, then it is probably right. Beyond that, follow the instructions and use the Wave Generator to figure out what your mapping is.

Using the kx drivers I realise that my card has a mapping issue and using the wave gen. I have been able to troubleshoot the problem to a certain extent.

I have the dsp as in the screenshot (see attachment).
COMPUTER is playback (src fx bus 0/1)
MIDI LINE IN is external analogue (src line in)
MIXER is mx6 (I have tried the stereo mixer here, it also gives the same results)
ANALOGUE OUT is external physical outputs and WINMM rec (kx1t)
CUBASE ASIO is Asio

If I create 8 stereo pairs in cubase's vst inputs then route a signal to every input I find that the mapping is indeed messed up (as mentioned in your cubase setup guide).
Now this is the bit I don't understand. If I route a left and right signal from src line in to Asio 0 and Asio 1 I get a stereo signal, so I know that these are active.
I then remove the other busses 2/7 as they are not needed and now I get no signal.
Why does it work with the other busses active?

as a compromise I have found that I can route the signal through dsp's Asio 6 and 7.
these are seen (due to a mapping issue) as 5kx and 6kx in cubase's
vst inputs which I have routed to bus 1.

confused? your not the only one.

The "asio mapping issue" is *not* constant.
It is more or less random and *can* change at any unknown moment
due to following actions (from user reports);
- Activating/deactivating ASIO inputs in your vst host (what you just described)
- reboot
- open/close vst host
- start/stop ASIO streams
etc.

This all sounds worse then it is in practise.
It can however be very confusing/annoying when you are new to kX.

/Lex.

I am over the moon with the reduced latency I have achieved by installing the kx drivers and I think that the ASIO issue is a small price to pay for the benefits.
Is the ASIO issue something that is likely to be fixed in the near future?
Would it make any difference if I used another sb live card instead? (my card is an sb0220)

No, it's a hardware related issue.

Yes, 10k2 based cards( audigy series) dont have this issue,
while all sblives with 5.1 are affected and non 5.1 sblives sometimes but less worse.
