Depends on what you are interested in-games, recording, listening to music? Are you unhappy with the Creative drivers? Are you willing to do a lot of reading to learn how to set up and record kX?
Compatibility list: http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/list.html If you are recording music and your card's model number is compatible with kX, you could do jail time in 4 states in the U.S.A., 3 provinces in Canada and Northern Tibet for NOT using kX. |

Digital out (spdif) on A2Value doesn't work with KX, so if you wanna use digital speakers or whatever you wont be able to. KX doesn't support EAX, which is the 3D sound used for a lot of games so if you wanna play games you're prolly better off using creative drivers. If you want to use the card for recording you can get a maximum of 4 mono inputs on the A2V with ASIO (line at the back of the card + AUX on the card inside the computer) using KX... with creative you can only get 2. I would deffinitly recommend KX for recording. You will need to make you're own DSP configuration (which means reading a bit in these forums) and by that time you wont be a noob anymore. If you wanna reamain a noob then these drivers are probably not for you. I must say, it won't hurt to uninstall creative and try kx for a while... you can always go back. But you prolly won't be that satisfied with kx until you work out a few things about the DSP.
just my 2 cents |
