Asio4All , ASIO2KS and ASIOx (you need ASIO capable software w/ them). All mentioned works through WDM/KS functions.
You can also use your current drivers WDM/KS (Kernel Streaming) capabilities directly (w/o need for ASIO driver mentioned). Asio capable audio players: - Winamp + asio plug-in ( KernelStreaming plug-in ) - Foobar2000 + asio plug-in (KernelStreaming plugin is w/ the bundle) - NativeInstruments Traktor BeatPort Player - etc. (DJ software, couple of Media players, audio creation software, ...) jiitee Added: Actually, there are coupele ASIO drivers more, but those are not very good ones: ASIO Multimedia, ASIO DirectX and ASIO DirectX Full Duplex, which all normally comes w/ some software like Steinberg' software. Some of them are already listed on my prev post. Games, as for an example, don't (normally) support ASIO.
Asio4all etc. can be used w/ systems w/ WDM drivers (not on those w/ VXD). jiitee |

For onboard sound in generally, WDM/KS is the best native driver mode (though, some boards has it's own ASIO driver, which ones I have no experiece), but the Asio4All (maybe ASIO2KS and ASIOx too are) is said to be the best one for audio playback / recording (music creation).
As I listed already 2 audio players which do have WDM/KS support through plugin, there aren't many players/software w/ native KS support (Sonar and MixVibes comes into mind atm). Also Games do not support KS either. Asio4All is quite secure to work w/ most audio devices, and it's easy to set up w/ any audio device/system --> makes me wonder, which problems do you have there: are those problems driver related or is everything related to that what you want to do w/ the onboard sound. There is Instruction Manual (pdf) installed w/ Asio4All installation -> everything needed information can be found there from. BTW: You have not told what are you going to do w/ that onboard sound (games, play music, record instruments (create music), etc.). That information maybe helps a bit. jiitee Last edited by jiiteepee; May 22, 2006 at 06:59 PM. |

I think he simply wants a "better" driver set to get rid of the noise created by his onboard sound.
I'm sorry to tell you, but probably the only way to get rid of that noise is to use a better quality soundcard. That noise is caused by low quality converters, aswell as interference caused by other signal paths in the motherboard, and drivers cannot affect either of these issues.
