what sound card do you have?
also try running Drivercleaner to remove all traces of CL and kX drivers, reboot, then reinstall

What OS are you running? I would guess Win98/ME... If so, take a look at the following thread and see if the info there helps: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/general-discussion/73466-help-installation-problems.html
iirc, I had the best results installing kX (On a WinME system) by doing the install without installing the drivers, and then running kxsetup.exe (in the kX installation directory, to add the drivers). |

In any case, you should try normal driver installation troubleshooting (if you have not allready). i.e. Boot into Safe Mode, and check Device Manager for any phantom devices (remove them), conflicts, etc. Run DriverCleaner and remove kX and CL driver remnants (as you did previously). Reboot, and choose cancel if Windows tries to install a driver for your cound card (you want Windows to detect the hardware, but not install a driver). Resintall kX. BTW: When kX fails to initialize the card, what are you seeing in Device Manager under Sound Video and Game controllers? Last edited by Russ; May 27, 2006 at 04:17 AM. |

Go to device manager, right click on the audigy card, properties, driver -> update driver, install kX manually with the hardware assistant, then reboot and re-install (not un-install!!!) kX via the setup once more.
