Audigy 2 ZS notebook with Sonar or Bandstand
My Dell laptop has a sound card (Sigma Tel) that is incompatible with Sonar and Bandstand. I am thinking of buying the PCMCIA sound card Audigy 2 ZS notebook. I would like to know if anyone has used this card as output for music generated by Sonar (midi) or Bandstand (audio).
Thank you. Serge Gracovetsky gracovetsky@videotron.ca |

why was onboard incompatible? iirc Sonar will work with any soundcard…
as for midi - the A2ZSNB should work, but for midi, you will need to load a soundfont (usually supplied on the driver CD)

The incompatibility between Sonar and Dell Sigma Tel sound card is well documented in the Cakewalk forum. It looks like Bandstand is also incompatible with Sigma Tel sound card. Hence I am carefull before getting the Audigy to make sure it will work with Bandstand.

what aspect of incompatibility do you mention, total or partial? - does sonar not work using windows' own audio driver model?

There has been some issues repotted (are those real or just n00b's results), but IMO you should get Sigma Tel working by using Asio4All and selecting ASIO as driver mode on Sonar (remember select the driver I/O's too, and use proper bitdepth and samplerate).
