Hi all,
I know, my problem is not kx project related, but maybe someone of you could help me out of this strange cubase behaviour. Problem: If I record midi data from a simple midi keyboard in cubase, the recorded notes appear before I played them. Strange TimeMachine ;o) Better explanation: I played the notes synchron to the metronom, but they appear earlier than they should in the measure view. At the beginning of a Cubase session, the notes are about 1/32 length ahead of the beat but when the session stay longer the notes get much more ahead. example: 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 x x x x x x x x x x x x (notes are played) x x x x x x x x x x x x (notes are recorded) I´ve read many, many posts mostly regarding Cubase SX but I have the same problem with Cubase VST/32 5.1r1 and didn´t find any solution. Please, does anyone has a solution to fix this problem? Thanks very much! Trance P.S.: I have a Pentium 4 with MSI motherboard and creative sb live platinum card with live drive |

Yes, I have got exactly the same problem and have read many posts, too. I even did the acpi stuff and the midiportfilter stuff and NOTHING happened ...
My problem is in Cubase 5.1 and SX, too, so I think it is a Windows XP problem ... Has anybody here any idea about it ? Thanx a lot |

hi guys ,
I might got the answer . The timing is very delicated on cubase sx or vst . if you want perfect timing , choose the Asio Multimedia driver for audio (Device setup). I dont trust the other settings ( Asio directsound or etc) . I know you dont have low latency but its very good for timing ,specially when using audio and midi together. This is something to try , I dont promise that you will have a solution. Take care. |

Ok freaks ... here is what I found out after hours:
The latency you choose by adjusting the buffer size of the asio driver you use, directly affects the midi pre-delay cubase records! So if you choose a hi latency for recording , say 40 ms, and you record midi events to a midi/audio click, then the events will be recorded aproximately 40 ms too early by cubase because of this latency. You in fact hear the audio played back 40 ms too early and you will play your midi track more or less in time with this too early audio you listen to, so your recorded midi will be too early ! What is strange here is, that cubase seem to compensate for the latency on the playback side but doesn't compensate for that latency during midi recording. In fact cubase should compensate for the 40 ms, so that every midi track you record should be delayed after recording, so everything is fine again ! |

hi all,
Midi timing is known issue for VST and SX running on XP/2000 (see tons of threads in Cubase forum). I had this problem when running XP/Directx8.1, it vanishes the day I install Directx9. No Cubase tweaks are required. (note : cubase works fine on 98SE with any version of directx). hope it helps |

I had to find a workaround for this bug...
I created a preset in the Logical Editor that simply moves all the selected events ahead in time for the needed amount. After this you can create a macro that automatically selects everything in the track and calls the logical editor. What upsets me is that you can't automatically call a logical editor preset from a macro, you have to chose it manually. Gonzo |
