20dB Boost doesn't work in KX3529
I have observed that this option is always enabled, and the checkbox in the AC97 panel doesn't work.

hmm
it works here well, you could try turning it off manuall by using kxctrl kxctrl -gac97 0E -- it will print the preset ac97 mic status -- if it is > 8000, the mic is muted -- if it is > 8040, 'boost' is on the default value is '0x6' which means '0dB' gain that is, kxctrl -sac97 e 6 - should unmute & enable ac97 mic kxctrl -sac97 e 46 - should unmute & enable ac97 mic + 20dB boost kxctrl -sac97 e 8006 - should mute ac97 mic let me know if it works -- and check if kxmixer updates the status of the ac97 slider [make sure to re-select the ac97 page] /Eugene |

Well, the "manual method" worked. And after unmuting the mic using 'kxctrl -sac97 e 6' the +20dB boost checkbox worked normally (with the comand line and with the mixer window synced). Sorry, but now all works fine, even after reseting the mixer. Hope you don't waste many time finding the "error". Later I'll give you my computer configuration.
But I have to coment you another some things: 1.- Why the 'Mic' or the 'Line In' inputs can't be muted from the AC97 panel if they are selected as 'AC97 source'? Because seleceting 'Stereo Mix' these sliders works as expected. 2.- With all the analog inputs muted (even unpluged) I have a -65 dB noise Level. Of course it disapears muting the AC97 slider in the Ins&Ous panel. Is this level too high to be considered as "normal AC97 noise"? 3.- Is there anyway to pass the AC97 input directly to the speakers without using the DSP? I remember that this was posible, but know I can't do that. PC configuration: PIII 1000 with VIA chipset. Windows XP. Audigy 2 with creative's drivers. ac-97 codec is a very noisy device
also, the live/audigy design is far from perfect please note that when in analog mode, all the ac97 inputs ARE to be MUTED that is, you simply select AC97 Source and change its volume via ac97 slider multiple analog sources cannot be recorded if you choose 'digital output only' mode, you should select 'stereo mix' and unmute the desired inputs (btw, for Audigy - the card is considered to be always in 'digital output only', because AC97 output gets disconnected by the driver automatically) please re-read the help file for details /Eugene |
