Pool your findings on Audigy4 SB0610 here

Ok so my Audigy died a few hours before a gig last friday and the only (partially) supported replacement I could find at short notice was this SB0610. As we know, KX development is posponed indefinately so waiting for 'support next release' is pointless. I've seen a few post regarding people buying this card and having limited success with KX so I say let's pool our findings.

Anyone...?.. anyone?... ok, I'll go first.

Analogue Front out (green) can be accessed from Lex's kxl2 by selecting 'SPDIFF Out / Digital Pro' .

Ummm, well, that's about it from me at this time. But 'm wondering, is there any sort of end user research we can do? Any KXcrtl trickery i can stumble through?
I really need access to the AUX connecter on the card (they've taken the CD SPDIFF, and CD Audio off.... those bastards.... mean thoughtless bastards ).
Are my efforts in vain??... Should I give up and find an Audigy on ebay???

Ok so I was in a rush and was a bit forgone in my conclusions. 4 channels in via Lex's ADC using Aux and Line in seems to work just fine. All outputs accessable via KXLT though the names are mixed around. One thing though, does anyone know what the white connector on the card is for? I'm using a custom case with Nuetrik connectors that I had wired to the Aux and CD headers on the old card and a third pair via my motherboards AC97 routed to the CD Spdiff in. I'd really like to not have to use the jacks on the back of the card if possible.

1. which driver version and which profx pack did you use?

2. do *all* outputs (analog + digital) work with kxlt?
If so, please report the correct I/O mapping.

3. does ASIO rec inputs work?

4. Does the 'UDA' (second codec) work with profx ADC ?
That is; do all 4 outputs of ADC carry seperate analog input signals?

/Lex.

PS:
I'm not sure, but isn't that white connector some firewire extension port or something like that?

Ok just some info on the chips on the card, dosent help me much but maybe useful for someone.

AC97 is Sigmatel STAC9750

UDA is Phillips 1361T

DAC is Cirrus Logic CS4382-KQZ

A quick google on these says that SNR, THD ect alot better than my old Audigy so maybe having to buy this card was a blessing in disguise.

P.S this is the first time I've had a 10kx card that can go 24bit (apart from my 1820M) so I'm a bit of a newbie in this area. All I know is I had a nylon string acoustic (with onboard battery preamp) going through the UDA on my old Audigy and the sound was pretty nasty compared with straight into the mixer but there was always the trade-off of having a wealth compression, EQ, drive, and verb at my fingertips.
Ofcourse new chips and 24bit should theoretically improve this but where do I start? Is it worth messing with on this card? I don't need WDM or ASIO recording or anything... I leave that to the 1820M but these creative cards are still wicked for live performance with their routing and DSP.

3538j for both.

I haven't tested digital but all analog outs work.
Out 1,2 and 3 (green, black and orange) are mapped to SPDIFF Out/Digital Pro, Digital Rear, And Digital Center/LFE respectively.

Yes.

Yes. There's only 1 VU but I'm thinking maybe there was only 2 on the 3534f version?

Ok, a bit of google finds the mysterious white connector for frontpanel mic / headphone stuff. No digital ins /outs like I hoped.
=================

1 - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
7 - key pin (shouldn't be there)
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +12VDC when mic is plugged in
10 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

=================

guyinco6nito is on a distinguished road

Hello,

The white jack on the Audigy4 is labelled "digital IO" and is designed for use with one of these:

http://soundblaster.com/products/pro...6&product=1780

Because of that, the white jack has 4 connections on it, and behaves differently than previous SB Live! digital output jacks. However, using the 3538m drivers I hooked up a minijack to dual rca adapter to it, and was able to send a stereo PCM stream (up to 96khz!) to my receiver using the right (not left) rca plug.

Enjoy!
