KX.inf driver file is empty
winxp pro
SB Audigy MP3+ Installation of KX Project went well, but .... no sound! ..... when I click on test I get "failed to create sound" Device manager shows "Creative SB Audigy" device working properly with Eugene Gavrilov as driver provider ... but shows a yellow ? for "other devices(Multimedia audio controller)" It seems that the KX set up file is picking up the PCI ID for the SB audigy but not for the "MUltimedia Audio Controller" ...... I would install the driver manually but the file kx.inf has no driver info all it contains is: ; kX Audio Driver ; Copyright (c) Eugene Gavrilov, 2001-2004, ; Supplemental PCI ID information (c) Vedran Miletic, 2002-2004. ; All rights reserved Need help |

It sounds like it detected and installed your Audigy, and that maybe the other device is the game port (ctljystk.inf), or a phantom device.
I would do a clean reinstall. Use DriverCleanerPro to remove driver. Boot into Safe Mode. Go into Device Manager, and if you see anything in there related to you sound card, remove it (including unknown or phantom devices, etc). Reboot (boot into normal Windows) and install kX. BTW: What version of kX are you installing? (the latest version (at the time of this post) is 3538k) Last edited by Russ; Sep 15, 2006 at 06:07 PM. |
