Squeak of death with Audigy Value 2
Hi
I am new to the forum. I bought the SB Audigy Value 2 card and installed it with the Creative drivers on my Win2K system. Time after time I have the lock up with the high pitched tone what I found to be called the "squeak of death". It doesn't happen when I reduce the h/w acceleration for video card (ATI Radeon on PCI ). My question are: What's the root cause of the problem? High traffic on the PCI bus? If I install KX driver will it fix the issue? Are there other ways to fix it? Thanks a lot! Andrew |

Have you checked those normal possible culprits
--> IRQ/resource shares, --> PCI Latency (set 64-128 for graphics) (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951) --> driver issues (http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_c...tml#background) --> etc. jiitee |

Thank you, jiitee. I checked the IRQ/resourses looks like there is no collision in IRQ shares. Do you think the problem could be the ATI card that causes big DPC latency? Theoretically it should result in some data drop, not the system lock up. Is lock up possible because of the latency? I'll check the s/w that you mentioned for latency.
Thank you, Andrew |
