24/192k stereo spdif playback on Audigy 2 cards
I notice the p16v chip on these cards supports 192k. It would be great if this output could be selected from Mixer (currently maximum is 96k). I'm using a software based sampler capable of 24/192k - currently set to 96k via Wave HQ.
It seems like a relatively easy change but looks can be deceiving! Once again, thanks for this amazing piece of software. |

SPDIF transmitter of Audigy simply does not support 192K output.
(well, actually no wonder - 192K is not even in spdif standard yet) actually, beside that i really wonder where you're going to send such 192k spdif to? have you got any spdif reciever capable of 192k spdif in (some manufaturers support 192k as an extension but these are rear things) Last edited by Max M.; Oct 5, 2006 at 01:14 PM. |

just a thought - are sure you really mean 192k at spdif? or you're just about playing 192K through analog outputs? if the latter then it has nothing to do with that frequency switch in kxmixer (that one affects nothing except spdif output itself). if you need 192k at analog outputs - just play it (set your software to such format) - that's it.

I'm sending a digital stream to my stereo system DAC which currently takes 24/96 (spdif) and further samples this to 192. Not sure whether spdif or AES/EBU are defined for this rate - although there are proprietary implementations.
My thinking is to avoid the DAC's internal sampler by just sending it 24/192. I find computer based transports are much better than highend dedicated ones (costing $10k upwards, e.g. Esoteric's P03). |
