3531, me too

I only us the kX drivers to listen to music. I don't listen to many midi's, but recently I've discovered that I do not get midi sound from the Windows Media Player.

I went to 'Sounds and Audio Devices Properties' from the Control Panel and changed my Default device for MIDI music playback to 'Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth.'

The MIDI music now plays fine. Perhaps you could try that.

OT: How can I use the other listed devices for MIDI playback? Uart, Uart2, Synth, Synth2, Control, and MPU-401 doesn't work for me. By using the MS Wavetable device, I'm assuming that I'm not using kX drivers to play the MIDI. So, what can I try to use those (one of those?) devices?

I've got the same problem, and same temporary solution.

Btw, anyone know how to turn of the "always on top" property of the mixer?

ta use synth1 synth2 ya have load up a soundfont first .... so to get away from that MS GS sound .. go back to control panel n set it back to say synth1 ..... and then back on Kmixer n load a soundfont

and then make sure the MIDI playing program is set to either midi mapper or synth

for testing you should probably load up a full GM soundfont just so you have all the sounds
