serious problem in recording with Cubase SX2
After endlees searches and thread&guides reading - writing for help here is my last resort.
I have SB Live soundcard (SB0222 10K1 [9400]) and i'm trying to record my guitar with cubase sx 2. the guitar is plugged into Zoom GFX-8 multi-effect processor and the zoom unit is hooked up to the Line-In output in my soundcard(the blue output). I have read those guides: http://members.home.nl/nahutec/kxtut...kxcubasesx.htm and also the one about the DSP. i just cant hear any sound when i'm monitoring myself in cubase(it just records silence) no matter what i try. i have tried those "example-DSPsettings" from the guides i also tried Example-2: Setup as a stand-alone Guitar FX-Box and in any case i cant monitor myself nor record myself with or without monitoring...also those bars that should display the level of my input when playing, show nothing at all- they are completly dead. Currently i'm trying to use the first dsp example settings in this tutorial (the first under "DSP Setup")(with k1lt instead of the second because k2lt cannot find my soundcard) and still without any success.. please help me, i ran out of solution-ideas to this problem.. Corel. btw- i'm sure i've done all those VST-connectios in cubase sx 2 right so i think the problem is somewhere in the dsp |

Ok -
The 'stand alond guitar fx processor' - will send NO ORIGINAL INPUT into KXlt Think of KXlt as the 'monitor busses' Think of the ASIO lines as 'record busses' that feed signals into VST INPUTS or TRACK INPUTS. Thus - if setup as standalone effects processor - one would need to enable track monitoring in cubase and select the ASIO input used in the KX DSP. BUT - if your using an outboard fx for guitar - you would simply connect the input to both the kxlt to monitor AND ASIO so cubase can record this input onto a track. Keep in mind - we hear the inputs going into a cubase track because of the parallel connetions of a physical input to kxlt and asio in the kx dsp (aka 'hardware' monitoring - and takes almost no resources) - otherwise one needs to 'monitor' the input of the track in cubase.(aka 'software monitoring' - and will add latency) did that make sense? |

What specific version of kX are you using?
In later versions of ProFx, 'Line In' was moved from the 'Src' plugin to the 'ADC' plugin, which would make the setup slightly different from the example (replace 'Src' (line In) with 'ADC'). The very first thing that you should verify, is that you are getting a signal into the DSP. Use a 'peak' plugin, or the built-in peak meter in 'ADC' (if using newer ProFX versions) and verify that you are getting a signal into the DSP. BTW: It is a little confusing when you call 'Line In' an output instead of an input. Please verify that you are using Line In (the blue jack, as an input). Once you are sure that you have a signal in the DSP (from Line In): Use additional 'peak' plugins, connected to the outputs of MX6, to verify that you are getting a signal out of MX6 (both outputs that are being used). If you are not, then MX6 is likley mis-configured. Beyond that, follow the instructions in the guide, and pay particulair attention to the section about the ASIO "mapping issue". Audio playback
SRC - choose FX Bus 0/1 MIDI playback SRC - choose FX Bus 2/3 (2/3 should work for most FX compatible sound cards but one of my sound cards, CT4830, plays MIDI back on FX Bus 8/9 |

Look at the bottom of the page here. Whether you use k1LT or Epilog you can run your cables pretty much as is shown here.
Note that you can rename plugins by right clicking on them. On the webpage I start with the Default name of a plugin like "SRC" and add a bit more description. Build a second analog input for your Audigy-Page 5 Last edited by Doug W; Sep 21, 2007 at 07:06 PM. |
