Newbie help with Headphones + Mic
Hello,
I've been a happy user of the kx drivers with my stereo speakers. My DSP looks like this: http://files.myopera.com/ermi/files/dsp.jpg The speakers are connected to the rear physical output, like suggested by KX. But then I connected some stereo headphones and a mic. Headphones to the line out and mic to mic in. Now I don't get ANY sound whatsoever. I tried a whole lot of different DSP setups, but none works. I did search, read the guide... I guess I'm stupid. Please forgive me, but I'm loosing my patience with this. I don't want no complicated setup, just playing back the sounds from my PC on the headphones. If I want some effects, that will come later. I tried to connect from [8000] FXBus0 to all of the outputs on the 'epilog'. No sound. I have all the volumes right in the mixer. What can I do? Thanks a lot. |

I solved the "no sound problem". It was hardware related, at least mostly I guess. Because similar stuff happened before.
When I connected the headphones the PC was on, and so it all went bad. I had to remove and relocate the card, remove the drivers, reinstall everything... So now the headphones and speakers work. I only need to get the mic working. Where to do I connect the mic input from 'prolog'? |

the MIC on the back of the card - is an 'AC97' input.
Thus - its on prolog as the ac97 - and you need to selct the mic on the KX mixer AC97 page - not to mention the ac97 level on the KX mixer recording page - if recording the mic (which is usually the case - for like VOIP etc..) - assuming your using the default KX DSP. |

Yeah, I know that. But then, from there, from prolog... where TO do I connect the mic?
If I don't connect it anywhere I can only hear the mic in the headphones. I want to use it for skype, msn, games... maybe even recording to some audio apps. I tried recording in Wavelab, didn't work. How do I get kx Wave inputs, that programs ask me for? |

Connect the AC97 pins of prolog to the RecL/RecR pins of epilog.

Thanks a lot! Got it all working now!
I guess I could've gone thru more guides ecc. but I was really out of patience with this card's (probably HW) issues.

There's some other thing I'm interested in, now.
Is there a simple, quick way to completely turn off the mic, just AS IF it was unplugged? Muting the mic in the ac97 settings doesn't turn off the recording part. And turning off ac97 input in the 'ins and outs' doesn't turn off the "live" app-independent (DSP-independent) mic functioning. I guess I could have two or more separate settings and load the appropriate one when needed, right? |

You could stick a GAINX plugin in line with an ProFXADC plugin
http://webpages.charter.net/drw46/ex.../gainx-adc.jpg Or just using the ProFXADC plugin by itself, when you double click it to select mic as the recording source, you will see that there is a mute button at the bottom left. Last edited by Doug W; Nov 9, 2006 at 03:02 AM. |
