it means that kX starts to decode AC3 stream. (e.g. exactly what it says literally)

i'm sorry but from what i remeber ffdshow is not able to decode ac3 - for the rest - mm - probably you could dig into mplayer settings? (more experienced peîple will correct me)

Sorry! it works... i had set spdif instead of liba52.dll in ffdshow codec settings
can I send AC3 output to spdif and in other computer it will decode it to 5.1? i tried with kx and it plays only 2 channels... i switched to creative drivers and it works... on target computer it shows Dolby Digital icon and plays all 6 channels Last edited by markyy; Nov 12, 2006 at 09:44 PM. |

It is both the driver and the hardware (kX does it differently from the way CL does it, and I guess that the 10k1 hardware is not compatible with the method that kX uses). Search the forum for more info... I do not know anything more about this, beyond the info that is in this forum.

So, if the KX uses the new way how to accomplish it (10k2), CL changed way how to do it (from 10k1 to 10k2)?

Again, I do not know a lot about it, and I do not know if Creative does it differently with 10k1/10k2 models, but, from what I understand, 10k2 hardware has the capability to bypass the DSP (maybe the p16v chip?), whereas the 10k1 models do not (and thus the signal gets resampled on 10k1 cards (not bit perfect)). I believe Creative uses TRAM to get around this problem (for 10k1 cards at least), and kX does not/cannot from one reason or another. Again, I am not sure about the details, but it is something like this...
