Yes, that card is supported.
kX Soundblaster Compatibility List

Make sure that Windows detects the card (choose cancel when prompted for a driver) before installing kX.

What location did you point to, when trying to install manually? (should be kX.inf in the \Program Files\kX Audio Driver\3538 folder)

Where did you purchase this card from? Are you sure it is not a fake (there are some fake one's out there)? What does Windows detect the card as?

One of 2 things is happening here:

1. Windows has incorrectly identified your card as ES1371 / 1373 chipset.
2. It is a fake SBLive as Russ said above.

I would suggest

A. Go into Control panel and remove the drivers for the card there.
B. Run Driver Cleaner
C. If installing in Win ME, install version 3534f from TravelRec's site:

http://www.electricstart.de/index.htm

Click on "kX drivers" link

D. If installing in XP use 3538l

It sounds like it is probably a fake, based on the ES1373 chip. Examine the chip that says EMU10k1 on it, to try and determine if it is a real EMU10k1 chip. An EMU10k1 chip is square, and an ES1373 chip is rectangular.

i.e.
EMU10k1 chip
ES1373 chip
