CT4760 Four Track Recording
Hi.
I have a CT4760 sound card and am using cubse SX3. Is there a certain set up that would allow me to record 4 mono tracks simultaneously? Or is it possible to make the front and rear outputs into inputs to make four stereo inputs? I just want to record four mics at the same time onto four sperate tracks. Is this possible in any way? I also have a Live Drive 2 Many thanks. Last edited by goose2; Dec 15, 2006 at 01:29 PM. |

Assuming the LD2 works on your card (I thought it was for A2/A4, not SBLives, but..??)
the live drive 2 has 4 mono analog ins, so... in the KX DSP, these signals are present on 'prolog' or 'profx/SRC' plugins - called 'Line / Mic 2' and 'Aux 2'. Of course theres the AC97 based input 'Line In' - which gets mixed with all other ac97 based inputs (mic, CD, aux etc..) - but the LD2 inputs will use a better quality codec compared to AC97 based - so use those LD2 inputs first. So yes its possible (6 mono actually) - but you'll need to convert mic > line for the aux 2. Just connect those prolog pins to ASIO inputs in KX DSP (and to a physical output for monitoring too) - then select those ASIO channels on the tracks in cubase to record. |

Hi.
Thanks for that. Iv'e set up the dsp and asio so ive got four mono tracks in cubase. Now i need to work out how to get two dynamic and 2 condensors which require phantom power into the pc, any ideas? Should i use a preamp? Thanks |

I also suggest a mic preamp for the dynamics as well - the one on the LD2 isnt great. And It *may* not be stereo when used as a mic input .. ?? - Seems to me its mono sent on both left and right - when the input sensitivity adjust is 'ON' (not clicked to off postion - AKA 'MIC' mode) |

maddog - any drive labelled "Live! Drive" was designed for the Soundblaster Live!
, that includes Live! Drive, Live! Drive 2, Live! Drive IRThe audigy cards have their own Audigy Drive (The original Audigy Drive was just a rebadged Live! Drive IR) a preamp is definately needed, one with phantom power. A maddog suggested a mixer would definately be useful, but you can actually pick up discrete pre-amps quite cheaply. I have a 4 channel mic pre i picked up for about AU$99 - which seems perfect for your needs, it was the SM Pro Audio PR4V.

Well I am a little confused, How do you get the extra inputs from the SBLive. Does the Live Drive have a DAC/ADC built in?

Ah , ok good to know - I thought it was possible the LD2 was for 10K2 - LD was for 10K1 - and I never heard of the IR one before... so - I put the disclaimer, not knowing if it was some unrelated HW mod project or something...
