Volume control with keyboard shortcuts?
Hi all,
after weeks trying to fugure out a multizone audio solution to use with Media Portal (www.team-mediaportal.com) , I finally found the kx project. I ran out and bougt an SP Live ! card and had it set up in a few minutes with almost all I wanted to achive (2 x stereo, individually controllable via software). The reason I wanted to be able to control the two paits of speakers via software mixer is that I user a radio (not infrared) remote control. The software of the usb radio rciever is able to execute Windows programs when I press a key on the remote. So I wrote some tiny scripts for the Windows Scripting Host that virtually press a key on the keyboard. Now my problem with the kx Mixer: I haven't been able to find a way to control the volume setting with keyboard shortcuts or to change with the Tab key from one pair of sliders to the other (which would enable me to write the scripts and use them with the RC). I have tried some macro recorder that also can use mouse actions, but thos doesn't work well either. So if anybody could give me a helping hand on how to access the volume settings from "outside" - perhaps there is a more direct way than with the keyboard scripts, but as I am not a programmer ![]() Any help is greatly appreciated - and merry Xmas ![]() Martin |

You could try my vMidiMixer - and set KX automation (which uses MIDI messages) to have those sliders affect most any parameter of a KX DSP plugin thats capable of automation... ?? - I have installed media portal but never use it as its slow as heck for me, and isn't compatible with my TV/USB device... So I never played with it much...

Maddog,
thank you so much for this hint - it seems to work like a charme Concerning Media Portal: You are right - you need a pretty fast machine to have it work smoothly. And the support for TV cards is really strange: To gett my DVB-S budget card (pretty common and widespread) to work, I have to manually add some lines of code to the capturecard.xml - this goes on for months now, and I have no idea why the default config file does not contaion this definition. But once it works, I thing it is a really pretty piece of software. Best reagrds from Heidelberg, Germany Martin |

Try Auto Hot Key, ( http://www.autohotkey.com/ ) which seems to be the master of windows automations and stopping RSI ... a very serious issue for musicians.
