hi to all,
does anyone know how to get this 3d sound to work ??? i tryed it in ut2003 with all settings (software,hardware,hardware + eax) but i get allways only sound from the front speakers. i tryed also the a3d driver but no rear sound. thx i.a. tom ps: audigy1 + livedrive + 3530 windows xp

a second question. what speakersetup i have to choose in windows setup ???
or ... how to tell kxdriver how many speacker i use (2,4,5.1)? thx i.a. tom PS: to dev team: great work (routing 01 3dsound and 45 67 89 direct outs) i like it (super klasse) !!!

sorry i'm a bit slow
i found this new surrounder plugin and i changed the setting now to 4.1. but in unreal i have no 3d sound. if i switch surround mode on i have sound on all 4 speaker but its a normal dolbysurround decoder, isn't it? i thougt i have to switch off surround for real multichannel sound. it's not real positional 3d mode for games,or is it? have fun tom

i have tesed it with "play3dsound.exe" a sample from the microsoft directx sdk
and it plays in stereo to! no rearsound! are you sure that kxdriver has positional directsound 3d? what do i wrong thx tom

Hi
I did not even find the surrounder plugin. Is it included with the new Kx Project, or do I have to download it seperately? If yes.. where? It's set to 5.1, but I only have 4.1 so I'd like a way to change it ![]() thanks, john |

i think that something going wrong on my computer. i have unistalled and installed kxdriver again but with no luck. it stays at stereo sound no 3d. any idea? @dahool its in the 3530 version. click on dsp. in the dsp window rightclick on the surrounderplugin and select tweak. have fun tom ![]() ps: i found out that i'm unable to change wavevolume! i take it to max but next time i opened the mixer it's on min again! but it cant be right, because i hear waveplaying at full volume.

this is a complicated thing
when you start any DirectSound 3D application in software mode, DirectX (sometimes) switches the speaker configuration into 'stereo mode' automatically. however, according to m$ specs, it should use all the available channels instead. so, make sure you have the 'Speaker configuration' set up correctly /Eugene |

i am sure that windows controlpanel is set 4 speaker and surroundplugin is set to 4 speaker too!
as i sayed maybe something with my installation is going wrong! the first time i reboot after installation i had a aditional combobox in the ac97 page but no sound! but after a second boot this combobox disapears. it was something like low,medium,high to chose. i dont know exaktly because it disapears after the second boot. has it something to do with 3dsound thx ia tom

no, i'm sure it has nothing to do with setup (that combo is the stupid pseudo surround of ac97 codec - it depends on codec model - and has nothing to do with DirectX)... the problem is somewhere in between app->windows(microsoft's software directsound3d layer)->kx... well... it's hard to say where... it is not your local problem - i think everyone gets this maybe...

is the problem fixed with the new release ??? currenty i have the creative driver installed because the most time i play ut2003 and i like it to hear when action is behind me when this 3d problem is fixed there is really no need for creative driver anymore cheers tom

do u know how to use the surrounder plugin? it's installed by default in kX DSP, and u can choose its speaker mode there (2.1, 4.1 and 5.1)...and if u don't have a subwoofer untick the box below, if u do remember to tick it!
i do not know what the surround option means, but i do not select it 'cos i'm satisfied with stereo output. can u enlight us whether it is 3d software surround or standard surround positioning? and the "copy" option i'm not too sure as well. thanks =) |

No 3D surround- at all
I'm using the Audigy2, and I can echo what he's saying about the sound issue. No matter what app I run, I get only front channel stereo, regardless of sound settings. It's not a speaker configuration error, nor a windows setup error, or any other attempted dodge by people who "Just Dont Know", they just aren't working right with the KX drivers. The downside is that while I can use the creative drivers and get the full proper surround effects, then my subwoofer doesn't work for jack. If I could just combine the sub option of the KX and the default drivers, I'd be set.

it has nothing to do with the surround plugin. i think its only to upmix a stereo signal to a 5.1 signal by dolby surround (or copy). or to downmix a decodeed ac3 stream to 2 or 4 speaker. with directsound3d you have soundbuffer and this soundbuffers has x,y,z coodinates. if in the game someone behind you. his footsteps should came out of the rear boxes. and if someone infront of you they should came out of the front boxes. also if anywhere in the map is some action you should hear from where it come. then you go that direction and make some frags have fun tom
