Audigy 2 eX and mic support in games?

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to use a mic in BF2 or more specifically in the mod Project Reality? I am having the Creative SB280-board (Audigy 2 eX)

In BF2, there is an option to adjust the volume level for the Mic but the meter does not respond when I try to set the right level. Actually, I have not yet tried the mic ingame but I may do that also - just thought some of you guys could help me out before I do that.

I do know that Audigy 2 eX does not have an AC97 codec but it says on the box that the card is "AC97 complaint". Furthermore, I can record voices in Wavelab for example.
Do I have to reroute something in the DSP to make it work?

In the device manager -> Audio Properties...-> Volume, I cannot choose Mic. Can I do this with Creative's drivers?

kX does not use the Windows mixer the same way that sound drivers typically do, and because of this, sliders that control the MIC level within external apps (which use the Windows Mixer to do it) will not work. However the MIC itself should still work and the level should be controllable from within kX. The first thing to do, would be to setup kX for recording with the MIC, and test it using Sound Recorder or a similar program, and once you are sure that it is working, then test it out in your games. Unfortunatley I cannot offer much help with setting up kX for recording with the MIC with your card, as I am not familair that model. My guess would be to enable (unmute and set the level to 0dB) the MIC2/Line2 Recording Level slider on the Recording page of kxmixer.
