Support Q's: X-Fi, 64bit?
I have two questions reguarding support with the kX Project drivers:
1) Is the X-Fi series cards supported? I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum. The drivers from Creative (as many of you already know I'm sure) have a huge conflict issue with the nForce 4 chip/drivers. I've heard that the kX Project drivers do not have this problem. 2) I also run Windows XP Pro (64-bit) and will most likely fairly soon update to Windows Vista 64-bit. Is the 64-bit platform supported? Forgive me if I'm asking dumb questions, I did not see either of these mentioned in the FAQ nor can I find a search button on the forums to see if it's been answered ![]() Thanks! |

Sorry, no on both.
Please read the kX project status (Sep'2006) thread, as well as the kX and Soundblaster X-Fi thread, for more info. Last edited by Russ; Jan 10, 2007 at 11:19 PM. |

So the good news is x64 is [planned to be] worked on, the bad news is that X-Fi support is possibly not going to happen (ever?!).
That's a real shame about the X-Fi support. Creative (many times unfortunantly, IMO) is the big dog when it comes to PC audio cards and X-Fi is the next generation -- lack of X-Fi support to me, seems to make kX almost a dead end (sorry, no offense, it's Creative's bad, not yours). Hopefully Creative releases the needed specs/documentation! Are there any pensions/etc. that I could participate in to put the pressure on Creative?
