kX Project Status (23 Jan'2007)
(UPDATED: 23 Jan 2007)
hi there ![]() long time no see all my best wishes to those celebrated old/new calendar christmas and new year -- (previous status - Sep'2006 (more detailed) - here: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/general-discussion/117638-kx-project-status-sep2006.html) -- some news: 1. my x64 and vista development was delayed due to lack of hardware. however, it seems I finally get the PC the next week, so, I'll return to my work on x64 and vista-compatible kX driver I finally got the hardware, will install the OSes shortly. x64 and full vista support is expected in 3539, NOT 3538 final. 2. ALSA has finally released some fixes that enable a2zs notebook analog inputs I updated kX driver code accordingly - both line-in/mic-in and recording work now in 3538m NOTE: ALSA has also released e-mu 1010-compatible driver, however at the moment, I do not plan any 1010/0404/1820-related development. 3. I have a list of minor updates/fixes to be done before I release the next build, 3538m 3. except the known issues listed in 3538m release notes, I currently have no objections against releasing 3538m as '3538 final'. I guess, fixing sysex and a2value mapping is not critical, I might do this soon. as soon as I get enough reports from the users with 3538m experience, I will release 3538 final and start working on x64/vista/whatever. stay tuned E. Thanks for the news, Eugene, sounds good! I will try to upgrade to Vista when it's released (officially). I just got myself in a position to be here regularly, again. I got myself a dual core machine, and I'm just about ready to try the 3538l driver with SONAR 6.
Thanks for your work, and not leaving us in the dark with the progress being made relavent to kX. I hope you're having a well new year, and see you around. |

Thanks, Eugene! kX forever!
![]() Just one question: Do you think it would be easy now to implement one functional stereo output in the 1010 card? Or the E-Mu cards are a completely differente architecture and the rest wouldn't work anyway? |

it's not a good idea to post bug reports in a 'status' threads. There's separate 'bug reports' node, read/write there please. |

Staairsteps:
Make sure you don't have the "metronome during playback", or "metronome during record" button enabled. When the button light is on, that means it's enabled, and that button is enabled by default in SONAR 6. If you need more help in this matter, start a new thread, so we don't continue to be off topic in this thread. ![]() @Max M. Hi and sorry for being off topic in this thread. And Max, thanks for updating your UFX package to work with 3538l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as always, thanks for the great work, I'll try out the new driver with Traktor tomorrow.
One question, does anyone know is it possable to get ASIO with this setup? 44.1k, 8 out 2 in 16bit? on a audigy 2zs? (not 8 in and 8 out)

ASIO will not have inputs at 44.1k - you need to use 48k

>I currently have no objections against releasing 3538m as '3538 final'.
btw. I strongly object to naming the final as '3538 final'. What's a benefit to stick to this number? Is it magic? Why '3538 final'? Why not '38 Gold', '38 Platinum', '38 Oh Yes!' or 'finally 38 - i did it, not everything i planned but yep it's 38'? We already have 13 (!) releases of v.38 (remember? kX About does not show any letters next to the version number so they all are already pure '3538') I still suggest the final to be '3539'. I have to say that Indigo DJ & IO both work fine on my PC, where a2zsnb freezes...

Damn I installed Vista last night, I had searched this board beforehand to see if there weren't incompatibilities, reading the board apparently there weren't ... many.
But now that I have installed it, while I can playback mp3, I can't use ASIO inside hosts like Reaper or EnergyXT. Sure I can pick it in the configuration dialog box but it ouputs an error message box stating that there are "errors initializing ASIO drivers"... (also "Driver is inactive") So I really hope 3539 will be out soon ! ( for now I'll have to go back to XP )Keep up the good job Eugene, I've been but praising your driver since it was out 5 years ago : ) edit : btw do you have any roadmap available, I mean : is the 3539 to be expected for release in 2 years or 2 months ? ( I really have no idea, but until then I'll have to stick to XP... or buy another Vista-compliant soundcard :/ ) Last edited by Boulotaur2024; Feb 4, 2007 at 08:18 PM. |

OpenAL?
"full vista support is expected in 3539"
OpenAL in hardware? Live and Audigy on Linux have it. Bye, bye EAX

Samson Audio - C01U Did you get that yet? but you'll need some software to 'connect' to KX - as theres no physical wire/cable to 'plug' into a KX compatible soundcard. Or are you saying that mic doesn't work at all? if not - I would suggest the forums specific to Samson... Or maybe you asking how to use multiple ASIO devices in Cubase - you need to enable this new ASIO device in Cubases ASIO setup applet found in the Cubase start menu. |
