3538m released

hi there
---
here's 3538m:

changes:
- Added support for analog-ins on A2ZS Notebook
- Fixed issue with 24/96 router (pls verify!)
- Fixed skin memory leak issue (Note: always use Zip instead of Rar)
- Fixed EFX effects boot time issue (related to the above)
- SDK: Added passthru on/off functions
- Fixed issue with double-click, added one more option
---
this is a final release candidate
unless we find anything critical in this release, I will announce this as 'latest stable' on our site (which hasn't been updated since 2004!)
after that, I will start working on x64 support and will work on improving Vista compatibility (ASIO)
--
everyone is encouraged to review this new build and let me know if it is stable enough.
pls re-check all the issues present in 3538a..3538l and let me know if some of them are still not fixed
--
known issues (which I cannot fix at the moment or will be fixing in 3539):
* digital noise/beep instead of audio playback (PCI bus-related) - since 2001...
* Line3 (AUX) is too noisy on A2PlatinumEx (undocumented initalization)
* sysex is corrupt if it is too long
* ASIO support in Vista
* x64 support

this driver version does NOT support (as 3538 and previous ones...):
* EAX 2.0
* 24/96 ASIO
* WaveHQ device (24/96) playback/recording on p17v (a2value, a2zsnotebook) - it was errornously enabled in 3538, but since p16v and p17v are different chips, no support is currently available (it didn't work in 3538 anyway)
* E-mu 1820-like hardware
* passthru on 10k1-based devices

note: audigy2 value mapping is incorrect. please let me know the new mapping and I will fix this before releasing the driver to the public
---
finally, download link:

http://download.kxproject.lugosoft.c...3538m-full.exe

installation notice:

- uninstall any 3538 version first. if you have any setting files, save DSP configuration separately, since some of the settings are no longer compatible with previous 3538 builds

24/96 router skin issue fixed.

Any possibilities of releasing ASIO 24/96 playback earlier instead of doing playback and recording at same time?

Thank you.

I had the memory leak issue. It seems to be fixed. Usage for kx seems to be around 8 instead of 27-32. Thanks for another great release.

A few observations - not sure if they're bugs... (A2ZS NB)

I'm happy to finally get an analog input for an A2ZS NB. However:
- on the general mixer page under analog source only the line input seems to work (not that I know what would the difference be with the mic input)
- i'm still in the process of figuring out the difference between ASIO and general recording inputs but:
- when using sound forge for example (general recording input) - the recording gain is controlled from the recording page on the mixer - just the way it's supposed to be
- under CubaseSX 3 / any ASIO application in fact / the recording gain (and enabling) depends on the line/mic setting on the I/O page of the mixer, which suggests that line input should be enabled, producing clean signal, which on some occasions might not be desired..

Is there a way to just use the recording control for the purpose it is supposed to be designed for (under both ASIO and DirectSound) and the Line In control for what it is supposed to do - provide direct monitoring if needed? I played with the DSP with no apparent success on the issue.

One thing, I'm not sure how it happened though, still have to investigate it, but: I had all those 16 ASIO inputs turned on and at some point my input shifted from 10-11 where it was supposed to be to 6-7 for some odd reason..

Hi Eugene and all:

I installed 3538m, and kX memory usage is showing lower than 8MB. Also the plugin GUIs for some plugins (such as EF-X, Dynamic Processor, etc.) that took some seconds to load are loading fast now.

Thanks for this release Eugene! Thanks a bunch!

Does that mean the 24/96 multichannel I/O can be done using ASIO, though not duplex?

exclamation line in problems

i have problems with the kx line in and my tuner
this is happening in the last two builds of the kx drivers 38 l and m

i cannot select kx line in in dscaler [the freeware program i use for my old bt8xx tuner]
kx line in does not apear un the sound source configuration

so line in cannot be controlled by dscaler [i have to manualy use the kx mixer]
not really a solution when using a remote

the builds before vesion 38L are ok
but in the latest 2 builds i think windows canot see/detect the kx line in or smth

something is not to the standard ... smth hasa been changend in the last 2 builds

If by mapping you mean the naming of the outputs...
I do own a A2Value and for me the analog and digitals are just swapped (I'm using K2LT):

Analog Front <-> Digital Front
Analog Rear <-> Digital Rear
Analog Center/LFE <-> Digital Center/LFE

WinMM Recording is correct and I don't know what Headphones Out is used for...

I hope this is what you were looking for, otherwise just ignore it

yep, that's excatly what I was interested in
can you try to 'reset settings' and re-check the inputs/outputs using kxmixer?
(k2lt mapping is already of use, thanks)

pls send me an e-mail with your results (kxproject.com/contact.php)

There's a Simplifed Chinese translated skin available now. Please download the skin from the following URL if needed.
http://www.hanzify.org/?Go=Show::List&ID=10084

(Download the file, exist KxMixer, unzip the ZIP file and overwrite the kxs file in the Windows/System32 directory with the uncompressed one)

I second that...

With 3538l I was having a crackling sound from one channel everytime I booted my machine that would only go away by changing the latency to another value and changing it back again...

Hi,

Just installed 3538m on Vista and I cannot controll the volume with my multimedia keyboard anymore. If I try, the volume bar (osd) shows either red or white, and it doesn't look properly, not centered.

@Eminos,
Disable (uncheck) the 'Multimedia Keyboard enabled' option under the kX Settings menu, if you want your keyboard software to handle it, instead of kX.

BTW: If (when having kX control it) it is Red/White instead of Green/White, it means that your volume is muted.

Confirmed! In addition: the SPDIF input works correctly, labeled as coaxial/optical SPDIF. And first time: the SPDIF output works!!! It seems that it shares the same register like the analog output. So I have sound either on both of them or on none. This was checked with bundled k2lt.
Thank you Eugene for the new package

Vista Drivers

I installed vista ultimate (32bit) in a test environment and - what a surprise - this old SBLive! Value ist not directly supported, but via automatic update some old creative drivers can be installed.

I did this prior to installing 3538m because i read about some incompatibility here. But those creative drivers are so bad - there is sound coming out but what a high background noise (all inputs were muted). Moving the mouse and every hdd activity makes even more noise. Is this a bad driver, IRQ probem or what?

So i installed 3538m - and the noise was gone. Crystal clear sound like under XP. Most of the mixer sliders are not visible as already described somewhere in this forum and i didn't give ASIO a try. I hope it's not a big deal to make the drives vista-ready, because this creative cr*p is unusable.

Native EAX under vista is dead - so i think this could be purged from the todo list. All I need is clear sound, low noise levels and fast asio.
