Need help with Audigy 2 ZS...

Hey guys! I recently bought a Medusa 5.1 ProGamer headset, and I have problems setting it up. I have the kX drivers installed. Now, if I choose either kX Wave SB0350 10k2 [8c00] 0/1, 4/5, 6/7 or 8/9 as my default playback device, I get bass but 5.1 sounds very bad. Center is not heard, rear is somehow wrong. If I choose kX Wave SB0350 10k2 [8c00] HQ as my playback device, I hear the surround sound just fine, but no bass is heard...

I think I had the same problem with the Creative drivers as I had with the 0/1, 4/5, 6/7 and 8/9.

Connection is as follows: I have 3 cables, green for Front, black for Rear and orange for Center/Woofer.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Use kX Wave 0/1.
Disable (uncheck) the 'Toggle Swap Front and Rear' option on the Main page of kxmixer (or reverse the Front Rear Connections to the sound card).
Use the kX Speaker Setup applet to set it to 5.1, with the 'Use Subwoofer Option' enabled, and set Bass Redirection to whatever you like.

Thanks for your reply!
Done that, doesn't really help... Any way to enable bass output in HQ?

I do not know, I do not have an Audigy (so I do not have WaveHQ, and thus do not know a lot about it), but I thought that WaveHQ was stereo only.

I guess you could use the p16v plugin to route WaveHQ into the DSP, and process it however you want, but hopefully someone who knows more about it will reply.

Wave HQ can be Encoded for directional audio.

For instance if I use wave HQ with VLC and set (if available on disc) to use 5.1 audio - Wave HQ will become 'multi-channel' aka '5.1' - It would seem '7.1' is possible (P16V has 8 outs in kX DSP), but I have no Idea if it would work or not - VLC only plays 5.1 so far as I know.

To hear the P16V - turn off kX > I2s switch in kX 24/96 Router - to be sure, if you use the P16V *plugin* in the kX DSP - your effectively forcing down grade in sound quality - the P16V was designed to bypass the kX DSP for 24/95 playback/record.

That is good to know, so I guess it works similair to how kX Wave 0/1 works (as far as being multi-channel capable goes).

Do you know how the routing is done for it (just curious)?
i.e.
Does "Toggle Swap Front and Rear" effect WaveHQ output (when bypassing the DSP)?

Yes - P16V output follows the Swap Front <> Rear switch.

And, theres an option in KX Settings like 'P16V Volumes Follow 10k2 Epilog'

Routing wise - its pretty simple - Wave HQ playback is summed with 10k2 at both digital and I2S outputs. The kX 24/96 router allows simple 'connect / disconnect' between 10k2 > SPDIF, 10k2 > I2S and P16V > SPDIF, P16V > I2S.

Wave HQ recording is 'hardwired' to P16V input - which we select SPDIF / I2S inputs via a 'P16V record' source select combo box/dropdown. (I2S 0-2, Spdif 0-2, 10k2 0-2) on kX Mixer Master Page.

We record AC97 via the 'AC97 <> I2S Routing' Switch that routs AC97 to I2S 0 (IIRC).
* Which basically routs AC97 thru the UDA - that lex's profx gives us access to on ADC for split AC97 (2+2) operation. The UDA part is the 'bridge' between AC97 and P16V - Wave HQ In. But when used in KX DSP - its another AC97 output for the '+2' part.
* Hopes that made sense *

As of now - recording Spdif inputs wont get SRC to format for recording.
For instance if I force record a 48Khz SPDIF input @ 96Khz - it will playback (@96khz) sound like a chipmonk (double speed)
But recording I2S (which are @96khz already) is working fine.
