No Surround Sound with wav playback

I have an SB Live Value. I recently installed the latest KX drivers, and when I play mp3s, avis, mpgs, and so on, only the rear two speakers have sound coming out of them. This switches to the front two when I switch off the rear/front swapping. You are right, the rear speakers sound better. But how come I don't have "Surround Sound"? I used to, with the SB Live Value default drivers, but now I can't figure out how to get it back.

The Speaker Test works fine; all four speakers play when they are supposed to. But only two work in every other context.

Please help.
