Sad Live!Drive IR + Live Platinum 5.1 - pls help

Hi all,

Was hoping to get some help with my card and front bay - here is my kx>about:

----Hardware / Software configuration---------------
Driver Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug)
Driver Date: Jan 22 2007 03:57:56
Driver Version: 5.10.00.3538 - debug
DB Name:none
SB0060 5.1 [e000]
PCI Information:
Device: 21102 Subsys: 80611102 ChipRev: 7
Card has MPU device
Card model is '5.1'
Card HAS AC97 codec
Codec name: SigmaTel STAC9708
3D Extension: SigmaTel 3D Enhancement
Codec is 2.0 compliant
Capabilities[6940] :
DAC resolutions : -16-bit- -18-bit-
ADC resolutions : -16-bit- -18-bit-
Ext Capabilities [80]: -PCM surround DAC-
Port: e000 Irq: 0x6(6)
Playback buffer: 20a0
Record buffer: 4000
Number of AC3 buffers: 4
Tank memory: 256 kb
GSIF buffer: 256 samples
OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 156 148]

Now, from what I understand, the DB Name:none is telling me there is no Live Drive installed - is that right?
Power cable is connected, I get an intermittent flashing red light from the optical out, and an audible hiss when I turn the headphone pot right up.

I only recently realised I wasn't using the connector cable that came with the card, (with the black dot on one side) so I'm now using that, but no change - no input signal from Line/Mic 2, and no headphone signal. I don't own any SPDIF stuff so I can't test that.

The thing is that I have had this working in the past, with creative drivers, at that time the optical out was a solid light as well, not blinking - we all know how much they suck so I really want this to work with kx...

I've been trying to find the jumper information for the livedrive IR, but can't find any pics anywhere. It seems identical to the Audigy one:

http://www.dslreports.com/speak/slid...gwMjQ5Nw%3D%3D

Except that mine has a JP8 between JP7 and JP9. These say "OUT1 and OUT0".
I was not getting a light from the optical out before, so I moved the jumper from OUT1 to OUT0. Now it blinks. weird? Probably shouldn't be messing with it.

If anyone has the same setup and could share how you have your jumpers set up that would be awesome. Otherwise, any ideas on what to try would be great too!

Thanks all

Here's a pic of the card - can anyone see anything that would stop the livedrive from being detected?

Thanks.

Kind of a new development.. The headphone plugged in icon comes up when i put in or take something out of the front headphone jack (on the livedrive)... but still can't get any sound... any ideas at all? I mean I have searched the forum but most people seem to be talking about the audigy version.

If the headphone icon pops up - then the LD is recognized by KX (at some level anyway) - but nothing shows up in your KX About info ?? (re: DB Name:None - yes means kX is not recognizing your livedrive)
I only have 1 jumper for LDII - condensor or dynamic mic selection, so maybe one of those jumpers are for that as well.

The OUT0/1 - *could* select what DSP output connects to the headphone jack
Mine uses SPDIF OUT 2 for my livedriveII headphones.
If you look at the headphone pins on the EPILOG plugin in the kX DSP - *may* give more clues on this... ?? ie. How is the headphone out on Epilog labled? If it shows 'SPDIF OUT 1' or 'OUT 0' - etc.. Does that change with the jumper?

Thats all I can think of....hope you figure it out.

Epilog says Headphones/SPDIF 2.. but doesn't change with JP8 change.
I'm gonna try some other jumper combinations.. Hope it doesn't blow up.

Ok - I re-read your posts - and I wonder if the connector (card > LD) isnt off to one side by 1 pin - I noticed this was possible to do with mine... but don't know what the symptoms would be.. ??

Wow! I feel like such an idiot! That was exactly what was wrong! - I had somehow managed to put the connector on the SB live card on so that only one row of pins was connected!

So now I have headphone output. the headphone icon is no longer coming up however, so main speaker output is not being muted - but that's ok.

I found that the JP8 setting has to be on "OUT2" for the headph out to work.

Line/Mic 2 is still not working, so not sure what's going on there. My version of livedrive doesn't have a JP1, as mentioned in the manual.
Might play with some more jumpers in the hopes that it might work.

Thanks for the bright idea Maddog!

No not bright idea - past mistake - no problem tho...

Line2/Mic 2 - if using line levels (stereo) - no need to change the jumper - just click the gain pot to 'OFF' position.
