kX better than YouP-PAX?

hello,

i am a long time YouP-PAX set user, and have some interest in kX as well. but i'd like to know are they producing better sound than YouP-PAX for movies and/or music (no games)?

i have Audigy 2 ZS + Audigy 4 software and YouP-PAX modified X-Fi drivers.

i am using hi-fi headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-A500

so, what do you guys say concering the sound quality? i mean - i had a pain in the ass to set Pax to work correctly, so i wouldn't like to repeat this procedure once again.

best of all,

System Specs

kX: completely custom drivers

youpax: modified/"hacked" creative drivers

best advice - test for yourself, and use which sounds best to your ears

hello,

yes, i know youp-pax is hacked one (they say EQ'd official one), but still as i've read some places they say kX is more like musicians favorite? what about quality (bass, surround) in movies?

I don't really think the DRIVER is going to affect the sound quality of the card, you still are using the same soundcard no matter which driver you use. If you want to ADD effects to your signal chain, KX will allow you to do that. The benefit of KX is not really "sound quality," kx really adds functionality to your card. KX gives you multiple "internal devices," so your system will show that you have like 4 soundcards connected, rather than 1. YOu can use these internal devices to treat different programs with certain effects and settings. For example: I have Winamp hooked up to one device because I like Winamp to be louder than every other software on my PC. PLUS kx gives you internal audio FX, and internal routing with a friendly interface. MOST people wouldn't even know what they are looking at if the saw the kx DSP.

You need to try kx and see if these features will benefit you. The sound quality is the same as the Creative drivers.

kX driver makes the hardware sound better than using the Creative driver, noticably better! However, there was one YouP driver that made the hardware sound close to kX sound.

The bottom line is to try kX and see if you like it. Since you only generally want to play just music and movies, the default kX DSP setting will do. Just go to the kX Mixer and use the kX speaker setup to select your speaker configuration.

See this guide for some basic use help: http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/guide/

I've had this same question for a long time. I have an old Soundblaster Live Value card. Is there anyone who has tried both and can compare the YouP-PAX and the kX drivers? I have been using the kX drivers for about eight months. The sound has improved compared to the SB drivers but I don't know if that is only due to my settings.

Around the same time that I found the kX drivers, I also found the YouP-PAX comments on some forums but was scared away by the poor instructions (but someone's poor English does not mean that their work is poor).

If anyone can help, including the kX developer (?), please chime in.

Many thanks.

YouPPax is based on the CL drivers
kX is completely written from scratch

neither is "better," but they are aimed at different usergroups
